Unfortunately, my entire life seems to be one tragedy after another, originating with my father dying before I turned 2. Now I’m getting married, and I am choosing to have my brother walk me down the aisle, give me away, etc. And it’s been somewhat easy to make the substitution until it comes to the father/daughter dance… And it’s really hard on me to try to look for songs and only find ones about fathers… Surely to God I’m not the only one who has been in a situation like this…
What songs are out there for siblings to dance to? I don’t exactly want to be dancing with my brother to a song about “Daddy’s girl.” I have “Sister” by the Nixons, and that’s it. I was just hoping for some other options?
My Fiance doesn’t have a good relationship with his parents. His father was very abusive and his mother stands by his father. Its questionable as to whether or not his mother will even come to the wedding, and I think its hard for him too to think about a mother/son song because the whole situation is just sad. I’ve suggested that instead he dance with his older sister and he agreed that this was a good idea. =)
We aren’t really big country music fans, but because of the things that Fiance and his sister have been through, we both think that “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack is perfect. It sounds like it would be nice for your situation as well and its beautiful. =)
