I am making a shadow box to put in Baby B’s room for Darling Husband for Father’s Day. I’m going to make it a Daddy and Me shadow box and leave spaces for the future photos. I wrote this poem that I’m going to include in the box but need opinions/critique on the poem. Darling Husband isn’t a very emotional person so I had to keep the gushyness to a minimum.
I am not yet here,
In Mommy’s tummy I’m still growing,
But I promise I won’t be late.
Only a few more weeks left to go,
And you’ll be able to touch my little toes,
Mommy talks about you everyday,
We both love you in so many ways,
Soon I will be in your arms,
And forever away from harm,
You will protect me and keep me safe,
Because you are my Daddy and that will never change.
I promise you Daddy I am worth the wait,
I am worth all the sleepless nights coming your way.
I am worth the terrible twos,
The stress I will cause,
I am worth all the gray hairs,
And the teenage years,
One day Daddy you will say where has the time gone,
I will be all grown up Daddy,
But don’t worry,
You will have taught me well,
And I will make you proud Daddy.
What do you think?
