I like buying my shepherd ( 70 pounds) “bully sticks” they smell but the dogs seem to go nuts for them. They don’t last long , but gives them something to do and enjoy for a while.

Also they are fully digestible unlike rawhide 🙂

My lab, 90lbs, does really well with Kong products. He has a Kong ball, Kong bone, etc…Also, Petsmart sells actual bones, that are very hard, and have a filling in them. We have bought him a few of those. He still chews on the bone part, and every once and a while we will put a little peanut butter in the middle as a treat.

Our dog is only 45 lbs but she’s capable of destroying toys like she’s much bigger.

She really likes her Nylabones.  We have both of these ones (although the green one is probably her favorite of the two):

Antlers are also really good and are totally safe for dogs to consume (unlike the rawhides).

The most indestructable and safe chew I’ve found is antlers. I buy cow ears, tracheas, etc from bestbullysticks.com, but I only give those under supervision. My one dog has a habit of trying to inhale the last chunk when it’s still far too big to swallow.

I like the Kong line of chew toys. Those are the only things that our 2 ~80lbs labs haven’t been able to destroy

We’ve got an 85lb lab/boxer mix and he loves the Kong. He bounces it around trying to get treats out long after they’re gone, keeps himself entertained for hours!

I buy my dog whole beef cannon bones from our local supermarket, I also sometimes get them cut in half.

Our 75lb Lab loves Nylabones!  He actually prefers the medium sized one – not the ginormous large breed one. Also, this one seems to be the favorite (with the ridges) I Googled a pic

We used to give real bones to DH’s boxer mix.  She LOVED them!  They look like this and are huge.  It took her a long time to eat one, and we never washed it.  If dogs eat dead things, poop, and goodness knows what all, I didn’t worry about washing a bone.  We usually stuck to the steer bones, but I’ve heard great things about antlers as well.

@oracle:  Nylabones are ok as long as you really moniter the dog and switch out the chew toys often. We didn’t switch out the nylabone my 70 lb boxer mix had and she chewed a lot of it off. They are meant to wear and be chewed off over time, but they can cause small pieces to come off as well so you really have to watch the dog. We didn’t buy her another one after how quickly she destroyed it…

There is this purple kong toy that I bought her that she loves and has lasted. It sort of looks like a purple hourglass and it has a hole in each end. The holes are meant for stick like treats to go in. We just smear some peanut butter on the end and let her go on her way.
