@SouthernGirl: I absolutely love that! How wonderful!

My favorite ever was probably a stuffed bunny my dad got for me. It’s dirty now, of course, but I love it to pieces and I hope I can pass it along.

My very favorite would probably be my American Girl doll. I had Molly. I loved to read as a child, and just absolutely loved that doll and her associated stories. I still have her stored carefully away, so that my future children can enjoy her someday. I still remember the feeling I had when I saw her under the tree Christmas morning.

As an adult, it would be hard to choose just one. Some had had sentimental value, but no “real” value. Two years ago, my elementary school was torn down. My dad took three bricks from the demolition site and wrapped them up for my sisters and I. I loved my elementary school, and maybe it is stupid, but I love having that brick! I also received a recipe cook my sister compiled of family recipes.

I guess sentimental gifts always trump expensive gifts as far as the most memorable gifts I’ve ever received.

@MrsEdamame:  Aw, I had Samantha!  She was my only “fancy” doll.  My favorite Christmas presents were always books.  After I was probably 12, I think that’s all I put on my wish list.

@SouthernGirl:  Yup!  These days I have a Kindle and an iPad so all I ask for (or if my mom/FI asks me what I want), I just say an Amazon gift card, lol.  :-p

@prisigtr:  haha, I love talking to other adult women who fondly remember their American Girl dolls :).

My niece received Ivy last year for Christmas (she’s the best friend of one of the new dolls, a girl from the 1970s). I think I was as excited about her receiving the doll as she was! I’m getting her a gymnastic outfit and accessories for the doll for Christmas this year.

@MrsEdamame:  🙂  Samantha was given to me by my grandmother.  I think I had one other outfit for her and was afraid to mess with her hair because I didn’t want it to look like my Barbie dolls, lol.  I had the box set of books too.  My mom still has her in her house and I would love for my niece to have her but she’s not into dolls at all…she’s been begging my sister for an iPad and is now fascinated by the new Kindle Fire!  She’s only 7 and acts 17!

@prisigtr: Though I did get a custom doll later (one that was supposed to look like me) I had a Bitty Baby first, I named her after my grandmother and I LOVED her. I treasured every piece of clothing, every accessory, for those dolls. I was savvy enough to know that stuff isn’t cheap!

That said, I’ve gotten some great gifts. I know it’s cliche or whatever, but an iPod. For someone who loves music as much as I do, it was amazing because I couldn’t afford one myself.

Last Christmas Fiance told me he was going to give me what every girl wants – a pony. Sure enough, on Christmas Day, there was a sparkly stuffed pony under the tree.

He also proposed on Christmas day, but I don’t think I can count that!

My family did not celebrate Christmas when I was a child, so I don’t have a lot of experience to work off of!

When I was in high school, my family went to London. It was the most amazing experience of my entire life. Since then, I guess I’d have to say the blanket I got from my SO. He personally picked out the fabric and his mom hand-made it.

@SouthernGirl:  I love your gifts, especially that your Future In-Laws love you enough to do something like that for you. I’m actually considering doing one for my Future In-Laws one of these years.

So my favorite gift was from my FFI. He actually got me the Living Cookbook which is an electronic cookbook that stores all of your recipes, lets you scale them to add more portions, tracks the nutritional content, creates menus / shopping lists and so much more. This was the perfect gift for me because I love to cook and usually make all of my meals for the month in one cooking session then freeze them in portions. This cookbook saves me so much time.

Mine is much less romantic or sentimental. I’d LIKE to say it was the last diamond ring my SO has given me but I would be lying….. It’s DEFINITELY without a doubt my remote car starter!!! Haha I live in Ohio and don’t have a garage to park in and I am SUCH a freeze baby! So my loving parents had one installed for me last year and I will never own another car without it! =]
