I thought it might be fun to come up with a list of awesome cheater cleaning/home tips.
Here are my favorites:
- Cleaning your microwave: Microwave a bowl of water and vinegar for five minutes. All of the crud on the inside will wipe right off after!
- To get labels off of bottles, soak them overnight in water and Oxyclean. The labels will peel right off.
- After grocery shopping, before you put the food in the fridge: rinse off all fruit and veggies. Make ‘snack bags’- break up all snacky foods into mini plastic bags. (for example, this week I made carrot and hummus, celery and peanut butter, chips and salsa bags)- when you’re running late, you can just grab a bag, and if you’re at home and the urge to snack hits, you already have snacks!

I use toothpaste to clean the silver rather than silver cleaner. Much cheaper, less smelly, and easier to clean off.

I use newspaper to clean mirrors and windows. Newspaper doesn’t leave behind paper fibers on glass like paper towels do.

I clean the tub and shower when I’m in it before I have my shower. (not a great visual I know but it is so much easier than reaching over the tub to clean the walls!)

@katiebugbug:Omg I have needed this microwave tip! How much vinegar is needed? I am so excited about this!

@Amy43026: I just do a few good splashes of vinegar and fill the rest of the bowl up with water. Works like a charm!

@katiebugbug: You’re a lifesaver. I’ve been staring at my microwave for the last few days, urging myself to clean it… this sounds like it will help 😛

If you mix baking soda and a little water to make a paste, you have home made soft scrub! It works great on glass stove tops, sinks, toliets, tile…you name it! Plus its super cheap!

It’s a bit of a splurge, but I love the flushable toilet wand scrubbers. They’re so fast and easy to use!
