I’m a huge fan of bags by B. Makowsky. They are classy with fun and unique details (hardware, knots, zippers, etc.) but are never overly trendy or crazy. They are made of soft, supple leather and are priced in the $100 – $300 range.

Nordstrom’s and Dillards carries them and you can usually find older styles at places like Ross, Marshalls, or TJ Maxx (great discounts too!) Or check ebay, Amazon, Zappos, or other online retailers.

I have 2 already (a big black one for work and a silver tote for shopping/weekends/errands) and I’m currently shopping for my third (a small/medium date-night-bag). Good luck!

Mine was a large bag so some of the smaller ones you are mentioning would be even cheaper than what I paid! The quality of his purses are great!

I’ve carried a Prada messenger bag for 6 years and it’s been through hell and back.  Best bag I’ve ever carried. I think it retailed for $485 but I know you can get VERY good knock offs for $115ish.

Handbag collector here! I LOVE Michael Kors. Some of the best, most functional bags I have are his. Used to have a thing for Coach, Tods, Kate Spade, etc.

That being said, my new obsession is with Harvey’s. All of thier bags are made with seatbelts. Totally indestructable. Here is a link to the crossbody bags, but they have tons of others too:

You can also find them on zappos and ebay. I have several, some fancy limited edition, and some of thier originals, and they are as awesome as the reviews say they are!

For around the $200 mark, I am loving what Michael Kors has to offer right now. The colors he is using for spring and summer are soo pretty! Pinks, yellows and orange.

I don’t really consider it a designer label but I love big buddha bags – they are around the 100 dollar price point.  they come in a ton of different styles.

I totally agree with delirium about Big Buddha bags. I got one last year and I LOVE it! I got the Maya hobo in black. It comes with a long strap so you can wear it cross body too. Big Buddha brand is also eco-friendly. If you have a Coach outlet nearby you can get some really good deals there. Coach leather bags last forever, however I think their quality has gone down over the years. Now that we are becoming homeowners my bag budget has diminished, but I love the classics; Fendi, Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. I haven’t tried Michael Kors yet, but I love some of his new stuff. Good luck in your search!

I am a Coach girl forever and ever unless someone buys me some other brand. But all my friends know I am a Coach girl.
