So we’ve narrowed down our 4 (4!) signature drink options to about six, which means two still need to get the cut. I figure this is a good time to do a taste testing (hey, after next week it’s spring break, and Tuesday is my birthday!) so I’d love to hear any great drink recipes you have, and your favorites of these drinks.
Keep in mind we’ll also be having beer, wine, and champagne, but these will be our only cocktails. We’re planning on using slightly higher end alcohol because a) I will never drink Smirnoff again and b) we can bring our own alcohol to our venue!
Our top choices:
1) Margarita on the rocks
2) Dirty Vodka Martini
3) Whiskey Sour
4) Hard Lemonade
5) Sex on the Beach
6) Long Beach Iced Tea
(We’re not doing 5 and 6, because they’re somewhat similar and both require a lot of ingredients, but we’re not sure which one to go with.)

You cant go wrong with a marg on the rocks!

@thefuturemrsgibbs – we’ll have plenty of non-alcoholic options, of course! This is just a way for us to save money instead of having an open bar.

Vodka martinis are my favorite!
Personally I would skip the iced tea (I assume you’re talking about something like a long island iced tea?) They have like 6 shots of alcohol in them and people can get seriously messed up on those.
My choices would be: martini, margarita, whiskey sour, and either lemonade or the sex on the beach.

I voted for 1, 2, 4 and 6. I definitely think the margs should be in there!
Also, I admire your effort. We can also bring in our own booze, and I had all these ideas for signature cocktails. However, after trying to figure out how much of each ingredient I would need, I think I’m cutting our signature cocktails down to 2 🙂 Your guests are going to love all these options!

I voted for two drinks, lol – – Hard Lemonade and Dirty Vodka Martini
I wish I had drink recipes but I don’t…Usually I just mix the liquids add the booze and voila…I am a vodka gal – – – thinking about it I usually mix vodka with soda and a splash of cranberry w/ a lime wedge BORING – I know….

Margarita on the rocks, no salt. That’s me! I can’t do martinis, but so many people love them I think you should include it – not everyone likes sweet drinks.

And although long beaches are awesome (long island ice tea with cranberry instead of coke, folks…even BETTER if you sub peach vodka for vodka) but hella strong

I voted for the margarita, martini, whiskey sour and sex on the beach (although I think that you are right either the Long Beach Iced Tea OR the Sex on the Beach are fine, as long as you have one or the other). Margaritas and martinis are classic so I deff think those 2 should be in no matter what! I picked the whiskey sour just because I’ve never really had anyone order a hard lemonade before (I’m a waitress) but that could be a regional thing! Anyways… that’s my 2 cents, but no matter what you choose your guests will drink it! 😉

@jackie-o That is my drink! Vodka soda, splash of cran. Hard to order at a loud bar tho. haha

I vote a margarita cause I love them but I think a frozen or really cold spiked lemonade… not from a bottle… would be SO refreshing!

@hotchild – yeah, it’s the same as a Long Island but with cranberry juice instead of Coke. They’re really good but they’re lowest on my personal list, because it’s a lot of ingredients.
@Amani – one of my BMs works at Binny’s! So she’s helping me with the whole she-bang, and it’s a lot less stressful. Otherwise I would have stuck to 2 as well.
@Jackie-O – me too… my drink recipes consist of throwing what looks right in and taste testing until I get it right! or just going to a bar.
@SweetAdeline – I love margaritas on the rocks, too! I think that one is a shoo-in. They’re my go to drink, although I’m generally not a sweet drink person, and tend to stick to the vodka martinis and wines otherwise.

i only voted for one, because I can’t jive with your cocktail list. all but one drink on there seems very acidic, and I wouldn’t try and drink more than 1, 2 TOPS of any of those all night.

@Melissa – as a guest, what would you rather see? Both R and I have a pretty similar taste, so our lists tend not to turn up much variety. The Sex on the Beach was my “I don’t like this, but I know other people do” option, so I’m definitely open to others!
