We are really trying to watch our spending right now, but my FI’s bday is coming up soon. And then of course the holidays start. So, I am looking for some inspriation of things I can make him!
Ive done a scrapbook in the past. And Ive also made a “50 Reasons Why I love You” type of thing. He loves sports, fishing, anything outdoors, and lovessss working on our house.
So ladies…whats your favorite gift that you have made?

I made his favorite cake last year for Valentine’s Day (red velvet)
(sorry, crappy phone pic, and all that; also, ignore my stove in the background:))

I knit him a hat one time that he wears a lot in winter. I was surprised that he liked it as much as did! It is fire-engine red and he can be picky with colors. But he loves that old thing.

If you have a lot of pics, you can print up a picture book on Snapfish for like $20…they ALWAYS have coupons, discounts, free shipping etc so you don’t have to spend a lot for it.
I also once did like a scrapbook coupon book, and a collage

@MsJeep23: Thats a good idea!! My mom and grandma are great at knitting, but Ive never picked it up. Might need to learn how 🙂

I used pictures of us to make him a calendar last year. I did it on the Walgreens website because they were running an awesome deal. It turned out really well and he really liked it. We are in a long distance relationship, though, so that might be part of the reason that he liked it as much as he did.

I got a mosiac poster made, You pick any photos you want to have incorporated in it, and then you choose a main photo. Then they make it so all of the other photos make up the big pic =) He loved it and I made a copy for myself! Win Win =) I did it all online and they just ship it to you!

I crocheted my SO an afghan, he loves it, and it’s super warm for snuggling up together in the winter when it gets cold. 🙂

Well the best gift I have given him so far was the photo album I made of us for Valentine’s Day one year. I made 2 copies (one for each of us) since we are long distance. And even though I know he probably doesn’t really look at it, I think he loves when I add the newer pictures to it.
The best gift I’ve made period is a “reasons I love you” book. So far I’ve reached about 240, but I haven’t decided when I shall give it to him yet. He knows about it though, and sometimes when hes feeling down, I get him to say a number and I read him that reason why hes the love of my life.

@Koala Bear: That is absolutely adorable!

My fiance and I were college sweethearts and we did really sweet things for each other early on when we didn’t have a lot of money coming in from our measly work-study jobs. I once bought a 50-piece puzzle and assembled it on a piece of cardboard. When that was done, I put another piece of cardboard over it and flipped it over. Then I decoupaged pictures of us on the back and once it was dry I traced around the puzzle pieces with an exacto knife. I took it apart and put it back in the box for him to assemble. He absolutely loved it and really appreciated the effort I had put into it. My favorite thing he ever made me was a scavenger hunt. I woke up to a knock on my door and saw an envelope on the door step containing the first clue. It then took me all around campus to places that were meaningful to us. It was so sweet! Lastly, in high school, I used to make chocolate fudge for my old boyfriend using the recipe on the back of the fluff container and he loved it! He used to ask me to make it for him all the time 🙂

I took a photo frame with 4 openings and put three of my favorite photos of us in it and then wrote a letter to him and fit it in the 4th opening. It has moved with him 2 or 3 times and is hanging in our master bathroom now.

I made him little gift certificates for his birthday one year for personal things like his favorite home-cooked meal, a full body massage, a night out of whatever he chooses and a couple others. He loved it! He’s used the home-cooked meal and night out, but saved up the massage one.

@crosswordpuzzle: I love the puzzle idea! I may use it sometime in the future.
My favorite is a tie between two. I crocheted him a scarf once that he loves and actually uses. Not terribly creative though.
Another one was a bedtime story I made him about us. I drew pictures of different moments in our relationship (stick figures – I said nothing of actual artistic ability) and wrote under the pictures the story of our relationship up to that point. Then I stuck them in a small photo album (one per page) and taped the pages shut so the pictures can’t come out. It’s so cute, we’re displaying it at our reception. Hehe.
