Fiance and I plan to buy a home by the end of this year. We need all new everything! I’m talking new bed, new dishes/pots/pans, new vacuum cleaner, refrigerator, new furniture, etc. Tell me (and if you have a pic, even better!) of things in your home that make your days just a little bit easier, prettier, more comfy, etc. As far as furniture and kitchen appliances, I’m looking for a modern/contemporary look. I’m not looking for furniture with crazy geometric shapes, just not something my grandparents may have owned. I’m looking for QUALITY products: the cost is not a big deal b/c I would rather have something that performs well and lasts many, many years from now than to replace it every few years.
I can’t wait to read your responses!!

We have solid wood furniture- no veneers. It is so beautiful and if it gets scratched, we can sand it out and good as new.

Having a HE washer/dryer has changed my life. It takes half the time to wash/dry, and here gentler on your clothes too so they look newer longer. Ours are Samsung. I’m totally indifferent on the rest of our appliances (we replaced everything when we got our house) and our furniture (we haven’t put nice stuff in because we have a little one and want to wait until the kids are older) but the washer and dryer are honestly the best things ever! Oh and I guess it was worth it to spend extra on a quiet dishwasher (Bosch).

I LOVE MY DYSON! I have a Dyson DC40 and it’s so sexy. I use it for fun.
Fiance couldn’t live without his key valet. It’s this little leather tray with a metal post that comes straight up out of it and has two arms branching off of it to hang your keys and watch. The leather base is to hold your wallet, phone, change, etc. It keeps all of his things in one place, which is really important in the big house.

The shelf my brother made in art class when in high school. He died in 1990 and I love it becasue it’s his. (sometimes “new” doesn’t make a house a “home”…)

@Ms Flamenco: Why do you need new everything? Are you both currently living with your parents or someone else where you don’t have your own things?
On of my favourite comfy registry items is our sheet set. They are the Euca-Lyptus brand. I have skin conditions that were actually aggravated by some of my old sheets. I had picked up some cheap jersy cotton sheets that were soft enough for my skin, but I love the feeling of these ones. They are crisp and super-soft feeling at the same time.

Slipcovered furniture is HEAVEN. I don’t worry about our sofa or chairs getting dirty. I just throw the slipcovers in the washer (with bleach since mine are white) and they come out looking great!

Shark mop steam cleaner and handheld steam cleaner. It takes seconds to mop, which is amazing. The handheld will take stains out of carpets and furniture, take calcium deposits off showers, and cleans my ring like a champ!

My Thermomix, hands down. It’s like ten appliances in one. It does everything for you, and you can just program it and do other stuff. Pricey but so worth it 🙂

Since getting married, Fiance and I have become BIG cookers – both of us enjoyed cooking before, but we were both really busy and didn’t have much time. Now that we are living together (we didn’t before we were married, mostly due to military/LDR stuff), and we can cook TOGETHER, it is much easier/faster and enjoyable. Having said all that, the kitchen tool that has CHANGED MY LIFE is a food processor. If I had owned one before, I might have cooked more! They mix, blend, chop, dice, slice, shred… every person who cooks should own one. They make life so much easier and faster, and you won’t cry so much from chopping all those onions!
Granted, they can get pricey, but we bought a relatively inexpensive one and it has been perfect so far: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CGXV2U/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01
Also, we bought this entertainment center from Ashley furniture, and I just think it is so lovely. It holds DHs big TV, I can easily tuck away his video games and controllers, and the display cabinets on the side (with lights!) just make me so happy.

Oh, my Kenmore french door fridge. It’s wonderful and has so much space. Also, HE washer and dryer. I’m a really big fan of the quick cycles. It takes less than an hour to wash and dry a load of clothes. Also, my lazy boy couch. It also looks like leather, but is microfiber and super easy to clean. It’s got battery powered reclining seats, so all I have to do is push a button and I can recline 🙂 That’s my laziness showing.

I love my Dyson and my Kenmore Elite dishwasher. Those two are my bitches. They do what I want, when I want them to and do a really good job at it. lol
