My bridal shower is next weekend. My mom was asking me what she should get for the shower. I told her she could get something off our registries like towels, but she said she wants to get something specifically for me since it’s the bridal shower. I don’t really have any ideas that would work for this situation. It would be seriously uncomfortable for both of us if she got me lingerie!
Did any of you get something fun, cute or useful that is just for you?

Most everyone got me stuff of the registry, but one of my friends got me this tray that reminded her of the lunches we used to go on! It was this Chinese restaurant that had paper placemats will crazy, old-timey drink recipes all over it…and the tray had the same stuff! It seriously made me cry.
But for you…hmm…perhaps some sort of spa trip for the two of you?

@BeetleGrl215: That is a really sweet gift! Sounds like a cute tray, too.
I like your idea – and I know she would love anything that meant some extra mother-daughter time.

My shower was this past weekend! A couple of my cousins filled up two huge baskets with decorations for all the main holidays out of the year! Some ornaments, door hangings, holiday candle holders, different dish towels…it was a really neat idea! I also received a cute candle basket with a poem for each candle.. a wine basket with a poem for each bottle of wine..not necessarily stuff just for me but different kind of stuff I will defintiley use! I make and sell cupcakes on the side so my Mom, along with the ton of other stuff she bought!, made up a basket with a good supply of pastry bags, extra tips, and a huge supply of cupcakes boxes that I use to pack and deliver cupcakes with! So I guess that was just for me! Plus lingerie!
I do like the spa idea.. that is actually going to be part of my Mom’s gift that I give her.. just so we can go relax and spend time together after the wedding!
Have fun at your shower!

@ohsosweet21: Wow, those are great gifts! What a fun shower. 🙂 I love all of those ideas, especially the baskets of holiday decorations – we are starting from stratch on that, for sure, and I LOVE the holidays.

I LOVE the holiday decoration idea: one of my cousins had a wedding at Christmastime and she was also starting from scratch (just out of college), so an aunt gave her ornaments that were very personal to her (a horse because she rides, a fishing pole because she loves fishing), a tree skirt, and all of the other trimmings–such a good and personal idea that I would definitely love if my mom got me (and would be much less awkward than lingerie!!)

I wish someone had gotten something personal. I got some nice stuff off the registry but the people that didnt buy off the registry just completely missed the mark, I really dont have space for the biggest gorge forman grill or really ugly cheap candles which I will never burn (I make my own beautiful soy candles I really dont need your crap parrafin ones).

@ohsosweet21: I saw this at another shower I attended and thought it was SUCH a great idea.
Personally, my Maid/Matron of Honor had a frame made from personalization mall that had mine and FI’s nicknames, our real names, our “Mr. & Mrs” names and our wedding date all over it in different fonts. It was really fun and probably my favoritest gift of them all. I’m pretty sure it was this frame:

Cute photo frame idea. (Note: make sure people are changing their names before gifting things with names!)
I received a cheque from my Mother-In-Law with instructions to spend it on something that was 100% for me. I bought a cake pop maker… totally extravagant, plus my spouse doesn’t care for cake! I also got a popcorn maker… my spouse once phoned me post vacuuming to tell me he thought I wasn’t allowed to eat popcorn anymore because it’s a pain to vacuum.
