Another post got me wondering…what is your favorite small kitchen appliance (and brand).
I love, love my Breville Toaster Oven. I bought it with wedding gift money– originally $250, but with BBB coupon only $200. Expensive, but so worth it! I use mine almost every day–from reheating things, toasting bread, cooking frozen pizza to making dinner like baked chicken or fish. I can’t imagine my cooking life without it.
So what is your favorite small kitchen appliance? (Not necessarily the one you use the most. The one you just love using and would feel sad if it was gone.)

My favorite one to use is the slow cooker. But the most used ones are coffee maker and rice cooker.

I LOVE my kitchenaid mixer! But use my electric grill a lot more since we have an apartment and can’t bbq.

Definitely my Kitchenaid mixer

@KoiKove: I also have a Breville Toaster Oven and it the best. I use it everyday and it was well worth the money. I couldn’t be without it now:)

I only voted for the toaster oven because I don’t HAVE a rice cooker. I want one so bad. (You can do more than just rice!) I want a slow cooker in theory but really I don’t know what to do with one.

I voted food processor, but it’s really a tie between that and my espresso machine. I have a full size food processor and I use it for everythingggg, chopping veggies, making dips, pizza dough, you name it! It’s just a great device and has saved me so much time doing prep work in the kitchen. But, the espresso machine feeds my caffeine addiction so yea, it’s definitely a tie. 😀

It comes down between our Nespresso Pixie (pod espresso machine) and the mini Cuisinart food processor as favorite/best kitchen appliance we own. They both get nearly daily workouts. The Cuisinart will be getting a big brother courtesy of our wedding registry, though, since the 3-cup size doesn’t let us do everything we’d like.

@Holly77: My Mom is also a heavy Toaster Oven user. They didnt want to spend as much money as me (even though they make lots more money than I do), so they got one that was $75. It sucked and was given away very quickly. Then they went and got one that was $150. It works okay, but every time she visits she tells me how much she loves mine!

@chasesgirl: and @givemecouture: what do you use your stand mixer for? Other than baking, I cant justify that much counter space

@Mrs. Coyote: and @ArtDecoDC: what do you use your food processor daily for? The few times I’ve used mine, I liked it, but washing it was a pain.

I like my food processor a lot but have also gotten a lot of use out of this. It’s an immersion blender with a whisk and chopper attachment.

@Bebealways: I have a very cheap 3-cup rice cooker and would like a larger more multifunctional one too! I didn’t know what to use the slow cooker for until I got one. Then you start finding recipes. I find that even if I use it once a month, it makes so much, that I can freeze the leftovers and get 2-4 additional meals all for one prep session. Totally worth it! And if you have potlucks or large groups over, you can’t beat it!

Of that list… I’d have to say my Microwave. As it is the one that gets used the most often… runner up would be my electric kettle (tea drinker here)… but it isn’t on your list. After those and off your list… would be my food procesor… makes life sooo much easier when I am doing a big meal (like Thanksgiving, Christmas and such). Still don’t own a fancy Stand Mixer… but it is something I’m in the process of shopping for with the funds we got as Wedding Presents (watching for a sale… gonna finally get me a Kitchenaid)
Microwaves – They are great. BUT when Mr TTR and I do our big kitchen make-over later this year, I will be “retiring” his simple microwave for a fancier one. When I was married the first time, I had a Panasonic Microwave Convection Oven, and it was frickin amazing. I could almost do away totally with my stove owning this appliance… a real god-send for big meals, holiday season etc. Once you’ve cooked a turkey in a Microwave Convection Oven on COMBO, you’ll never want to cook one any other way again… it pulses between microwaving and convection… so the turkey cooks faster (about half the time vs an conventional oven) and browns gorgeously at the same time !! I sooo miss that appliance… can’t wait to get a new one when we renovate.
Lol… Renovating is gonna be awsome (aside from the dust & inconvenience) in that we’ll end up with a dream kitchen. Gonna get the sink, stove, fridge, dishwasher and microwave I’ve always wanted (not to mention tons more storage, pot drawers etc). I’ll be in heaven !!

I’m with the Kitchenaid stand mixer bees. Love it so much! We probably use our microwave and toaste oven the most, but I would be devastated if anything happened to my stand mixer.
