I’ll have to come up with recipes, but we make a lot of soup in our house! Beef stew, corn or seafood chowder, carrot ginger soup, chicken noodle, lentil soup, black bean soup.

I mostly don’t follow recipes, but I like Smitten Kitchen’s black bean soup, these lentils for the crockpot, something like this for a different lentil soup. I change a lot of ingredients and add more spices but these are great bases.

I love soup so much that I have an entire Pinterest board for it! http://pinterest.com/socr4/soup/. Many of those recipes are in the crock pot, or can be.

My favorite by far to make and eat is this mushroom farro (but I make it with barley) soup.

Tonight with leftover tomatoes from mom’s garden I made this tomato soup!

I sometimes make a homemade version of Olive Garden’s Zuppa Toscana, which is delicious. It’s easy to find the recipe by googling.

@hisprettygirl:  Soup pinterest board! That’s amazing.

@hopefloats:  The smitten kitchen black soup is so good – I add a bit more spice but otherwise it’s a perfect soup. It disappears so fast in our house.

I love soup and make it a lot, especially in the crockpot. Problem is, I dont follow recipes very well, I just make up my own stuff. Whatever I have at home I throw together and it usually always turns out.

One thing I do like to use when I am out of ideas is supercook.com. If you have never used it, its amazing. You put in the ingredients that you have and it brings up the recipes you can make with it. super helpful when you just arent feeling creative.

Butternut squash soup with curried chicken = easiest yummy soup ever. Just dice up a butternut squash, put it in a big pot with enough chicken broth to just cover, and simmer until the squash is soft enough to blend. Pulverize with an immersion blender. Mix in curry powder, garlic powder, and salt. Simultaneously, I just stirfry some chicken in a curry sauce I buy from the store and put the chicken + the sauce on the finished soup. Also tastes good with sauteed onions!

Creamy hazelnut soup
(serves 6 as a small starter)

80 g ground hazelnuts
2 shallots (thinly sliced)
1 medium leek, white only, ca. 4 cm (chopped)
1 parsnip (chopped)
35 g butter
1 tbsp flour
1 l vegetable stock
200 g double cream
20 g chopped hazelnuts

Roast the ground hazelnuts in a pan (no fat necessary as the nuts contain enough for them not to stick or burn) until they emit a strong sweet smell.
Add the butter and vegetables, and cook them for ca. 10 minutes or until soft. Dust with the flour and incorporate.
Add the stock and simmer for 20 minutes. Pour in the double cream.
Purée the soup in a blender and strain through a sieve. Return to the pan, season with salt and pepper and reduce to the desired consistency.
Sprinkle with roasted hazelnuts to serve

Seriously amazing! The only soup Darling Husband likes
