I have a major addiction to nail polish! I change my color(s) out once a week. Bright, vibrant color is such an integral part of my personality that I’d never think to change, even if someone told me that I was too old! I figure that if something as simple and unobtrusive as nail color makes me so happy, there’s not a thing wrong with it.
I’m a huge fan of the Sinful Colors brand. They’re inexpensive but very good quality. I have found them at Target but my usual location is any Walgreens pharmacy. I love colors that pop, that contrast yet somehow work together (about 75% of the time I do two colors — one on my left hand and right foot, the other on my right hand and left foot).
I pair these two:
I also do black and white, various shades of pink, sometimes some pale sparkly things, pink and yellow (a great summer combo as it reminds me of raspberry lemonade). I love the neons.
(the first and last are the two from above — Dream On and Irish Green. Sandwiched between are Pink, Summer Peach and Neon Melon, which I am currently wearing as is but am going to take off today, mix with some white to tone it down and do a light yellow / light pink)
I also love classics, like a good red.
I think that color is a fantastic way of expressing your mood, making you feel sexy (red toes paired with some sexy peep toe pumps — my favorite) and telling the world a fair amount about your personality. Even if your job leans toward a more subdued wardrobe, a splash of color on your nails can make you feel great.
Just this past week, I went black and white on my nails for (what turned out to be) the final game of the Phoenix Coyotes / LA Kings hockey conference finals. White for my Coyotes, black for support of the Kings when they would inevitably win because they played an amazing series.
(I somehow managed to miss a nail, which is why I tok this picture)
Even my profile picture here is one of me showing off my deep, non-neon purple (and my ring!)!
As one for contrasts, I have every intention of sneaking some electric green and pink into my wedding. The dress will be a simple white tea-length but the shoes will be stunning (and shocking!) neon green (possibly peep toe) pumps with pink nails and my fingernails will be the Irish Green color above, possibly paired with a bright pink shrug or thin “jacket”.
So I say keep on rocking any color you want! There’s something powerful about nail polish that men just don’t get!
(Sorry for all of the photos! I just wanted to show what I mean!)
