4littlekitties:  Hi and thanks. I’m 36 and I’m happy to hear you both felt very comfortable. We’ll have to put it on our list of things to do!

I’ve been to London, Rome, and Paris. Though I enjoyed all of them and would recommend them to anyone going to Europe, I think for your purposes I would recommend Rome above the rest. If you’re going for 10 days, London and Paris don’t have enough to keep you occupied. Rome not only has SO MANY historically significant places to visit, it’s also a super quick train ride to other parts of Italy so that you could see a bit more (we also visited Cinque Terre, Florence, and Venice). The food is AMAZING, the city is beautiful, and you’ll learn so much!

Budapest is amazing. Oooh the cakes! The ruin bars! Prague – touristy of course, but if you are considering Paris and Rome I’m guessing you are ok with that ๐Ÿ™‚ and Prague is more romantic. Berlin is still the place with the coolest bars and the coolest galleries. London has a fantastic street food scene right now. Rome – beautiful churches and history. Take a bike tour to get a feel for the different historic areas.

Ignore anyone who says you can “do” a city in a weekend, or a week, or a 10 days. Sure you can tick off the “24 hours in Paris” sights pretty quickly, but come on! These are cities with over a thousand years’ of history on one hand, and the vibrancy of millions of people living their lives right now on the other. If you are bored in any of them, you haven’t put the effort in.

London is Amazing. Rome is Amazing. Paris is Amazing.

If you have never been to Europe, those are three cities that are so different yet AMAZING. If you are going for 10 days I recommend going to multiple places–you could EASILY be so busy with 3 or 4 days in each.

London and Paris are a train ride (Chunnel) away). I’ve also spent a lot of time in Scotland and Spain.

PM me if you want more specifics about my opinions about London, Paris, and Rome. Also Spain and Scotland …

My current Europe wishlist is the Amalfi Coast, Prague and Berlin  ๐Ÿ™‚

crackktheskyy:  I wouldn’t suggest Amsterdam for a honeymoon.

I would HIGHLY suggest Paris because there is so much to see. You can go to different cities like Versaille and Pigalle, etc. The train is very easy to take over there.

Barcelona is very different than Paris, very busy nightlife, DH and I loved it, but its might not be your scene. Art over there is huge! THe architecture is just so beautiful.

You can’tgo wrong with Rome, and you can stay in Rome and do day trips to Capri, or Florence and I think even Tuscany

I did my study abroad in Greece, and I think it would be perfect for the type of honeymoon you want! I would suggest flying into Athens and staying there for about 2 days for the museums and the akropolis, then going to an island for the rest of your honeymoon.  I went to Rhodes and Crete, and both were great.  They’re gorgeous, lots of arts and culture, great food, etc.  Since it wasn’t warm when I was there I didn’t go to the beach at all, so don’t think that Greek islands = beaches. Try to go to local, family owned restaurants – they will treat you sooo well. My friends and I regularly received free dessert, free wine, etc.  I found everyone (aside from the obnoxious guys in clubs) to be very friendly and welcoming.<br />

My second suggestion would be Germany.  Berlin is my favorite European city, but you can also plan a trip down the “romantic road” (http://www.fodors.com/world/europe/itineraries/classic-trips-driving-germanys-romantic-road-13/) so you’re not always just in a city.

I wasn’t crazy about London and thought Rome was just ok, but of course YMMV.  Everywhere else I’ve been I’ve done a lot of outdoor/hiking/adventure activities, so they don’t fit what you’re looking for.

crackktheskyy:  Paris, Vienna, London, Dublin, Lucerne, and Florence. abundant culture, walkability, great food (even the street food and casual food).

I aslo loved the Viking River cruises! I’ve done them several times, the best way to see things because you don’t have to pack and unpack.

crackktheskyy: I think Slovenia and Croatia are amazing and would be great for a honeymoon: beautiful and very diverse scenery; impressive architecture, museums, castles, etcs; really interesting ancient and modern history; not tooooo touristy; excellent roads; great wine; English is widely spoken; and it’s very cheap. We rented a car and drove around and it was a lot of fun.

My husband and I went to Europe the summer of our wedding ๐Ÿ™‚ We went for 3 weeks and travelled to Rome, Venice, Florence, Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, England (we move quick LOL).

Venice was the most romantic place EVER! With the sparkling Eiffel Tower in a close second – but we went to Paris in August (re:everything is closed) so that kind of sucked.

I really enjoyed Amsterdam and Brussels because they were both so relaxing!

Good luck ๐Ÿ™‚

4littlekitties:  My dad did the same cruise last year!

I have to say of your options, I would choose Paris hands down.  I really enjoyed London but Paris is just the ultimate cultured city and there is so much to do and an easy to navigate underground system.

Venice and Florence are both super awesome also but I wouldn’t want to spend too much time traveling and not enough time enjoying!

The most exquisite place in all of Europe (well all of Europe that I’ve been to anyway) is Lake Bled in Slovenia.  Gorgeous lake surrounded by a picuresque village and majestic mountains.  Food etc in Slovenia is quite cheap too compared to the restof Europe. Be sure to book a room with a lake view.  All the delights of Venice are about a 3 hour car journey away.
