I am always curious what styles of workouts other people like. Do you like classes, running outside, just using the gym, etc?
Personally, I am fine just running outside. Unfortunately it’s 111 degrees today, so that’s not likely. Even at it’s coolest lately it’s mid 80’s.
Classwise, I like spinning. I have tried yoga and pilates and am not a fan.
A Pure Barre studio is opening here in a few months, so I am VERY excited to try that!
So please, tell me what you like!

Ooh, I love barre workouts!!
My favorite workout is a yoga sculpt class at my local yoga studio, which is a mix of yoga, cardio, and weights. I LOVE it. It’s an awesome, fun workout. I have also tried a spin class available at this studio, and I liked it – but the seat hurt my butt soooo much, so I haven’t been back to that class.
In addition to the yoga sculpt, I try to use my elliptical often, and I have been running outside for the past few months to “train” (kinda using that word loosely because I haven’t been that great about sticking to my schedule lately) for a 5k. I also use Physique 57, Ellen Barrett, and Bob Harper DVDs when I just can’t get myself to leave the house. (I have a hard time working out at home, though, because I often get distracted and start noticing places that need to be dusted, or thinking about the dishes that need to be done, or the laundry that needs to get washed… When I’m exercising outside the house, I am able to push those thoughts away!)

@Ms Bookworm: I CANNOT work out at home. Darling Husband does P90x, etc. at home but I literally cannot focus. I just randomly walk away and sit on the couch!
I am happy you like Barre classes. I am really excited to try one!

My favorite workouts are spin and Body Pump. I’m always amazed that I burn 600 calories in a 50 minute spin class (I wear my heart rate monitor). Spin is a really tough class but well worth the effort.

@Linz1231: I looooove Pure Barre. It’s a workout like no other one I’ve done. You’ll certainly be sore in places you’ve never been sore before. It’s amazing what they can do with light hand weights and a small ball. Hope you enjoy it.

I really like zumba classes… they are so much fun! I started taking them in January and it is the only workout that I have been able to do consistantly.

I found a kettlebell kickboxing class I love! Combination of kettlebells, martial arts techniques, and intense cardio intervals. I’ve gone through a lot of workout phases – regular gym-goer (cardio/weights), martial arts, outdoor runner, yoga at home, and now kettlebell classes. I tend to only do one at a time for a few years, and then move onto something else.

I like Turbo Kick. It is a choreographed kickboxing class. They are done to popular songs and so high energy. I love it!

I LOVE bar method (similar to pure barre)! It is one of my favorite things in the world. It’s such an amazing workout, but also fun (to me!).

My favorite is kickboxing. It’s an instructor taught class at my local gym. I like having someone tell me what to do and really push me.

I can’t work out at home either- I just don’t push it hard enough. Lately I’ve been doing a boxing bootcamp class that’s awesome because we actually use gloves and heavy bags- what an arm workout! I’ve tried TurboKick, but I’m not a fan- probably because our instructor sucks. Our regular kickboxing instructor is out on maternity leave for the summer and we’re stuck with this terrible turbokick lady all summer, no one’s happy about it. She spends more time explaining how to kick than she does getting our heartrates up.
I’ve had good luck with Zumba in the past, although my current gym’s instructors kinda stink. I do spinning once or twice a week, it is a really good workout. And I take yoga two or three times a week too, with a couple different instructors- Saturdays are more stretch-focused, Thursdays are more power yoga. I’ve done step, but almost killed myself (too uncoordinated for that noise!) and this week I’m going to try a body sculpt class, see how that goes…

I love body pump at my local gym which I do twice a week. But my most favourite is my 2 hour class of Socasize!!!!! It’s a dancing/exercise class and it is to some awesome soca and reggage music..It makes me sweat like crazy but it is so fun and the 2 hours goes by so fast!! I also like to run outside too but it is WAY to hot here in the summer to do that on most days!

@Linz1231 as you know i am a pure barre advocate!!
I am IN LOVE with this type of class…I just wanted to share my success story with you guys! This picture is January 2012 vs July 2012…it is crazy what 7 months can do to your body!!

Right now I am loving my Bikram Yoga class. It’s hot as heLL, but I love the focus it gives me on myself, and I can see my body changing in very short time.

I definitely need to be out of my house to work out well. Running is my toughest/least enjoyable workout but it’s really effective. As for classes, I LOVE spinning for cardio (as long as the music is good) – amazing how quickly the hour goes by and what a good workout I get in. But I used to hate it. For weights I like Body Works (I think it’s the LA Fitness version of Body Pump). For easy days, or when my knees hurt I do the elliptical.
