Wine Coasters! You can make these really easily since it seems you are into the DIY thing. You can collect them when you open a bottle of wine at home, or you can go to restaurants and ask if they’d be willing to collect corks for a while and to give them to you at the end of a few weeks worth of collecting.

As to the popcorn bar question… not quite sure what you mean… is that the only food you are providing?

Personalized wine charms. I saw them on Etsy. I’m thinking of getting them for my wedding.

@thenextmrsi:  OMG I love that idea!  I collect my own corks and have them in glass vases for displaying around my house.  Something like what you posted is a great DIY for any wedding favor.  Since I love wine it would be personal and our theme is rustic so something like that may just work.  Hope you don’t mind if I steal your idea!

Just a helpful tip those corks are pretty much impossible to do!!

I bought wine bottle stoppers for my wine theme wedding they just came in today. I spent about 160 (with shipping) for 130 favors

@Mrs.Moser:  Question.  How are they impossible to do?  Cause I’m really loving them and any tips on how to would be great.

i didnt try the cork coaster but I did do the three cork place card holder.

I tried every glue possible to hold the corks together. Hot glue, foam glue, super glue, and Gurilla glue. nothing worked but the Gurilla glue but it was so messy.

It ended up working but took seriously about 30 hours total to do about 85 place card holders.

I looked up on websites of what glue would hold corks and many said Gurilla glue. It worked eventually but was messy and took so long. I’m a perfectionist and I know that the corks dont cut evenly.

If you buy corks, they are expensive too. I did ask a local Italian Rest. to save me wine bottle and corks and they did, the problem is they are all different sizes, and made of different material.

WHat I did with the corks from the resturant was take a knife and cut a heart out of the tip, or a star, flower, etc.

I’m going to put them in a little kiddo gift bag with a stamper and a activity book for kids, for their favor

Mini bottles of wine? One of my FI’s cousins did this: (woops! just saw you didn’t want to give away actual wine! still think it’s a cute idea!)

I think the wine cork coasters are super cute! For what it’s worth, we made placecard holders and hot glue worked for us.

Also, our wedding was kind of wine-themed (okay we didn’t actually have a theme, but it was at a winery!) and we just had a candy bar for “favors”.  I think that most favors end up being thrown away or not used, unless they are really cool.  And even then, not all of your guests will think that!

I just looked back at this thread and saw that people were having trouble with the wine cork coasters??? I collect corks and made a TON of wine cork coasters, trivets, and cork-boards with them about 3 years ago, and they are STILL holding up. I hot glued the corks onto cork trivets from Ikea and they worked out fine, no problems at all!
