Hi all! Omg help me with favors lol! This part is killing me! My fiance wants some “simple” and “easy” and not “time consuming” however, I love the idea of doing some parts of the wedding myself and having a unique flair. He has won in every DIY battle, but I am not sure how I feel about the wedding favor aspect, and we are now 2 months away (5/24/13). We have a very clean, timeless, romantic feel to our wedding (all creams & ivory, minus the bridesmaids’ dresses which are a muted blue/green that is called “jasper” and is of a luminescent chiffon material). We have incorporated to items into our wedding that give it a semi-wine themed flair – We are doing the wine love letter box at the ceremony & for a guest book we are using an empty wine bottle that guests will put a note in it & we will read on our one year anniversary. For cocktail hour we have a fun feel-good hour filled with lawn games, etc and we have a live band and such at the reception. The ceremony takes place outdoors on the water, and the reception is inside the ballroom with all ivories, golds and tans in the room (very elegant). We want to have the favor at the table on their napkin/plate to add to the decor of the table. We have contemplated personalized wine bottles (too expensive), etching our own wine glasses with etching creme, wine stoppers, italian cookies, etc. My fiance won’t do wine bottles bc they are too pricey, won’t do etched wine glasses bc they r too time consuming & won’t do italian cookies bc he doesn’t want to spend a weekend at his aunt’s house making them. I don’t like the idea of wine stoppers and edible favors bc they seem too typical, though he loves the edible favor idea. I also always visioned giving out sunflowers seeds with a cute saying – my favorite flower is a sunflower – but my fiance thinks it’s weird to randomly incorporate sunflowers (all of our flowers are garden roses & baby’s breath) and also thinks everyone will just throw them out. Help! Open to suggestions!

What about DIY wine charms? I’ve made them before and they’re not too tough of a project (pretty much just threading cute beads on wire loops). Plus, they can be used during the reception to help guests keep track of their beverages.

You could buy wine corks in bulk at a make your own wine place or craft store, and make wine cork coasters.
How much is too much? You can buy cute cheese knives with wine cork handles
You can make wine cork key chains
Wine Cork Keychains

I love the idea of wine charms so that everyone can keep track of their glass over the night too! The dollar tree also has wine glasses and you can buy pre made vinyl monograms on Etsy for cheap! You could have whatever you need made and just stick them on each glass. They even have an etched glass option. I bought these and added them to pilsners for my groomsman and champagne glasses for my BM’s.That might be a happy medium since it wouldnt be too time consuming and you could do it for about $3 per person. They would look pretty on the tables in each place setting, could be displayed on a table or your caterers might even pass them out for you which could be a nice touch.
Here’s the Etsy Shop I used:
She might even give you a discount if you buy a lot of them 🙂
Also here is a good website for cheap favors…some are over done and tacky and some things on here are super cute..They have a TON of stuff. This link is for a search of all their wine items.
Congrats on your wedding! its coming up so soon. Ours is 2 days after yours 🙂

My favorite idea is doing a donation to a charity that means a lot to you & your fiance in your guests honor. We’re doing that & then giving something small that is diy& that has the charity’s info on it. I just feel it’s so much more meaningful than something that might end up getting lost or thrown away.
