I need your thoughts girls!
The short story: we are getting married in July 2011 outside. We like the idea of adding a little bit of asian flare, as I am half chinese. We really like the idea of some oriental fans at the ceremony for the look and to keep people cooler.
My question is: should we get one for every guest – or just the women and a few more – my fiance thinks none of the men would want to use one! :p There will also be water served if it is hot out!
I have attached two pictures of the fan options. Thanks so much for any ideas/opinions! 🙂

That first one with the cherry blossoms is really pretty! How were you planning on laying them out? I think your Fiance is right tho and guys probably wouldn’t use it, they’d use a program or something instead. I’d probably go with just having enough for half the guest to use.

I agree with having them for the women only. If you haev that for the ladies what would the guys’ favors be?

The first one is gorgeous. I would have them only for the women and have a few extras on hand. I know my SO wouldn’t use a fan, he would think it was too girly….lol.

I got enough fans for the ladies. I really don’t think the guys would use them unless they have a true flair for the dramatic . Our actual favors will be sake sets that will be used for our toast.
I originally looked at the Cherry Blossom fans. I saw these, which are a hybrid of the two you posted. They’re very inexpensive, too. 89 cents per fan.

Wow! Thanks everyone! Those cherry blossom oriental fans are the cheapest I have seen 🙂
I also found these wedding cake bubbles – anyone have an opinion on bubbles at the wedding ceremony? My ceremony will be outside. Just worried they wouldn’t work too well.. especially with these small bubble makers :p

PS- Are you girls having ceremony programs at your wedding? I am really struggling with the idea of this. I don’t know if it’s worth it. Personally, I’m not too interested in them and neither is my Fiance. But do the guests need/want them??? What are your thoughts?

We’re not doing programs. We are having a civil ceremony that will only last 20 minutes at most. If your ceremony has a lot of elements, I would say that a program does help. It sounds like yours will be less formal though.

I’ve only been to one ceremony that had a program. It’s definitely not “needed.” I might do them if I have time, but I’m definitely not stressing about them.
I think bubbles are great! Actually, theknot.com has some on sale right now for $8/50 and if you type in the code knotbff at the checkout thingy you get an exra 20% off. But I like the bubbles you picked out, that’s just in case you want slightly larger ones or something!

We are doing paper program fans – knock 2 birds with one stone. And yes, we are only providing half the amount of our total guests, thinking that the men will not use the fans.

I don’t know… if it was hot enough my hubby would want a fan. Even if it’s pink. He hates the heat!
We didn’t do programs. I like looking at them, but I always end up trashing them and I decided it’s not worth my time or money.

I agree with artbee, I’m sure if it’s hot enough, there will be men that would appreciate a fan!
Just my personal opinion, I think programs are a waste of money and end up getting thrown away by 98% of the guests.
