I’m trying to get everything done ASAP that way I can relax as it gets closer to the big day! My question is when can I assemble the favors? I am doing the little 2×2 boxes and in the boxes will be like a little cellophane bag filled with candy corn and M&M’s. The bag will be tied with a robbon.
I have all of the boxes assembled, but now I was wondering if it would be too early to start putting the candy in the bags? Will they get stale?

They might get stale, especially depending on the weather and were you store them. If it warms back up, which it usually does during September you might get some melted candy:(
I would hold off another week or two or be really carefull of where I put those boxes.

@penguinsaremyfriends: Yea, I was thinking it might be too early too. Booo but I’m planning on keeping them in my basement, and it’s noramlly around 65 degrees down there, pretty cool and dry all year round

I would recommend not doing them until a couple weeks before your wedding. You don’t want to risk the candy being stale.

I also worried about when to assemble my jordan almond favors, I ended up doing them the week before the wedding, because i wanted them to taste fresh

I would wait! Wait till about a week or so before the wedding, you dont want the guests to have old tasting candy.

I did mine about 4-5 weeks before the wedding with hersheys kisses. Chocolate doesnt go bad that fast and candy corn is all just sugar. If you can keep it in a cool place just so it doesnt melt, I’djust get them done.

Thanks for the comments. I still need to order the candy corn in bulk, probably online somewhere. So I’m thinking it will be another like 2 weeks till i get it. So maybe then I will start assembling and keep them in a dark cool place.

Hi again MsBrewer (not stalking you, I swear! haha)
I just had this argument/”discussion” with family members over the weekend. I think the candy will be fine, as long as you keep it inside, out of sunlight and humidity, etc. A lot of stores sell pre-packaged candy in cellophane bags, and I’m sure some of it sits for months at a time.
The only reason I’m waiting to do mine is that we’re still waiting on 2/3 of our RSVPs, so I don’t have anything resembling a firm headcount at this point. I don’t want to do extra favors and buy extra stuff if I don’t need to… Although I did just get a Michaels coupon for 50% off one item, so I’ll probably go buy the favor boxes before that expires.

@seven12:Hahahah too funny! I’m sure you’re not stalking 😉 just kidding.
I got my favor boxes from Michael’s too! I highly reccomend them! You can get like 100 for $20 and then with the coupon it’s only $10….totally worth it!
Thanks for your advice too. I think I am going to order the cellophane bags and the candy tonight, and then once they come in I will start putting them together!
