I don’t think favors are needed at all. It’ll be the first thing cut from our list. As a guest, I’ve received both edibles and trinkets, and I can tell you that I honestly didn’t care about them. I either ate them then and there or didn’t because I didn’t like them, and the trinkets were usually put in the “donate” pile, for the next time we headed to a thrift store.

I honestly think they are a waste of money. If we have the money, we’re going to do scratch-off lottery cards for everyone to do during the reception, to see the winners. Make it a game, since we’re not doing the whole garter/bouquet thing.

As a guest at your wedding, I know I’d be ticked that the men got the lottery cards and the women got candles! I’m not in favor of sex-based party favors and I know I’d prefer the lottery card over the candle!

We’re not having any favors at all.  I also personally don’t like the idea of different favors for men and women.

Another vote for no favors. And I would be WAY jealous if my fiance got whiskey and I got candles. Edible would be my best bet, if you decide you want to do favors. I probably wouldn’t actually like the favor (I’m not really a sweets person) but my faince would eat mine so at least it wouldn’t go to waste.

I’m in the US- also agree that the trinket favors (photo albums, etc.,) end up going to the donation pile pretty quick. Also not a fan of men vs women favors. What about a mini-wine bottle? You could do a cute custom label.

We’re giving tic tacs in our wedding colors, with a custom label I made. Total was about $1.05 each- CHEAP, and people will be tearing into them before the night’s over.

I am from Canada – but my logic is, this is a wedding not a kids birthday party. You are supplying the food and entertainment you don’t need to send them home with a goody bag!

Favours are fairly common here too, but I just didn’t care! And I promise that nobody missed them!
