My shower was a bridal tea, and my Maid/Matron of Honor put together DIY tea bags with my favorite tea that said “___ and ___, a perfect blend”. It was so cute!

I just threw a shower for my best friend. We gave out personalized pots of lip balm. The guests loved them—who doesn’t need an extra lip balm in her purse.

My mom made peanut brittle and toffee. She put them in little baggies with ribbon.

Every shower I’ve been to has had a favor, but they’re not very elaborate. A little bag of candy or whatever will be fine. Like with wedding favors, I would err on the side of edibles.

@MissGemini:  I’ve always seen favors at showers, but it doesn’t have to be anything big. I just made sour gummi candy kabobs for my BFF’s shower this weekend. She is HUGELY addicted to that stuff. 🙂 Including the sticks, bags, ribbon & buttons I spent about $20 for 40 favors. Bought the candy at WinCo cause they have bulk candy bins.

For the shower I am hosting, I will be making cookies using of my bride’s favorite recipes.

I originally had much more ambitious plans, but decided that it was better to keep it simple-and everyone appreciates something edible.

One shower I helped plan I did pink/red/cream nail polish favors (at the Dollar Tree for $1 each and the brand is actually really good!).  You could buy colors in your wedding colors.

Another shower we did mini cookies in a jar.

In rural Minnesota, favors are not expected.  I’ve been to many showers around here and I don’t remember getting any.  We do prizes and stuff, but not favors.

However, it doesn’t seem like that is the norm in the rest of the world!

I hosted my sisters shower at a winery & gave heart wine bottle stoppers. My other sister hosted my other sisters shower it was a fancy brunch pearl/lace theme. She gave these really cute metal measuring spoons. The measurement were cute sayings. I don’t know that people will expect them but I’ve seen them at every shower I’ve been to.

I’ve been given a favor at most showers I’ve been to, but I wouldn’t necessarily say I ‘expect’ them.  And I certainly wouldn’t miss them if I hadn’t been given a favor!  Favors definitely don’t have to be extravagant – you can bake a batch of cookies and put them in ziploc bags and tie with string – and call that a favor!

I’ve never seen a favor at a shower…but I have been to one where they gave out some really nice prizes for the games.

I just had one of my two showers. My mom and sister did a goldfish bar, since we have an ocean type theme for our wedding. They had a variety of goldfish flavors from cheddar to pizza, etc and little bags for guests to take home. My mom also gave each guests a starfish bookmark that when used the guests are to pray for the couple. I thought it was really sweet. My other shower in a few months, I know my Future Mother-In-Law is giving away tea bags since it is a tea party. I’d say the favor doesn’t have to be large or expensive, just a nice thank you for coming.

@MissGemini:  My shower was at home. Buffet-style meal, desserts & drinks. My mom, friends & neighbor made favors. They had pens & notepads, candles, candy, and some other thing that escapes my mind at the moment. I said it was unncessary, but they insisted. In the end they were REALLY cute and pretty cheap. It’s a nice touch if you wanna do it and can do it nicely on the cheap, but otherwise you can scratch it.
