This is the first rough draft of my feather centerpieces. I’m going to re-do the pomander and make it a little bit larger.

@Cheeks11: What do you use for the feathers?  Is it a boa?  I’d like to try and recreate something like that but no idea what to use!

We’re doing these:

Its basically an “eiffel tower vase” with floralytes, and vase filler.  Using a bouquet holder (plastic and foam), hot glue the ostrich feathers into the foam!  =)

@M.Ruder: I used a boa. It’s pretty simple just to wrap that baby around a ball. I was contemplating using those ostrich feather arrangements as part of the altar decor. I still haven’t fully decided but I just love them so much!

@aribari: Yea! I’m excited to see another bee doing feather pomanders as well! Love em!

I am doing the ostrich feathers with eifel tower centerpieces. I have done them tons for other events, will post pix tomorrow…and honestly as long as you stick it in with a 30 to 45 degree angle and cover the bouquet holder then you will be fine. Give yourself time at the venue to do them or else you may not be able to transport them because they are huge.

Mine looked exactly like @m.Ruder right down to the lighted vases!

@paula: it depends on the fullness usually 20-24 is good. I am using about twice that. I have 230 feathers and 5 centerpieces…. So over 40 per centerpiece? Mine are about 24 inches long and 7 inches wide. I did a mockup yesterday and will try to post pix today.

I’ve come to really love feathers as decoration! However, they just don’t “go” with our venue.

I had half of my centerpieces with peacock feather… they are very simple, but they were beautiful.
