Fi and I have been together for 5 years, so I’ve had a lot of time to think about these details 🙂

Wedding Date: February 16, 2014 (Sunday daytime wedding)

Engagement Length: 1 year (engaged 2/10/13)

Colors/Theme: Blush/pale pink, beige, white

Guest #: 80-90ish

Wedding Party(#s): 5 girls, 5 guys, 1 flower girl

First Look: Hopefully not, but maybe to cut the picture time between the ceremony and reception

Ceremony: Outdoor lawn area (I live in Florida, should be gorgeous!)

Reception: Indoor reception hall (same location)

Transportation: None needed

Dress Style: Thinking something fitted and lacy on top, and flowy on the bottom

Veil Style: Idk

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro hair, DIY make-up

Honeymoon Location: Thinking Canada

Flowers: White and simple for the girls, white with some pink for mine.

First Dance Song: By your side by Ben Taylor

Centerpieces: Artificial flowers to save $$

Food/Menu: Lunch wedding, so nice sandwiches on croissants and fresh breads, fresh fruit, etc.

Cake Flavor: I don’t care as long as one layer is devils food chocolate  for me 🙂

Favors: Charitable donation on behalf of guests.

DJ/Band/Ipod: Spotify and sound system. Just for background music, we’re not big dancers

Photobooth or other reception entertainment: Eh. Idk yet.

  • Wedding: February 2014

Wedding Date: February 8, 2014
Engagement Length: 1.5 years
Colors/Theme: Navy blue, bronze, cream
Guest #: 150 or so
Wedding Party(#s): 6 per side, but two of those will not be standing up front because they (a married couple) will be doing our ceremony music
First Look: Absolutely! I want to spend as much time at my reception as possible.
Ceremony: Church, at my parents’ insistence
Reception: Art deco-style jazz club
Transportation: Possibly a party bus? The distances are all under 1 mile but it’s cold in DC in February. We’ll be moving a lot of people, so limos aren’t really possible.
Dress Style: I love Maggie Sottero’s Maude–straps, v-neck, a-line, very little bling, absolutely no lace
Veil Style: None. They look terrible on me (the observation of my mother, FMIL, and the lady working at the bridal boutique)
Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro for both
Honeymoon Location: Peru (Lima and Cusco) and Chile (Santiago) and maybe Uruguay (Montevideo)
Flowers: Red roses
First Dance Song: Sleeping Beauty waltz by Tchaikovsky
Centerpieces: No flower arrangements. Just small votive lamps and possibly two roses with 2-inch stems in a tiny vase
Food/Menu: Haven’t picked the specifics yet, but it’s a 4-course plated with hors d’oeuvres and an open bar.
Cake Flavor: We love the red velvet and snickerdoodle flavors from our cake place. However, they have 170 flavors so we haven’t chosen anything yet.
Favors: Not sure if we’ll do this. Perhaps substitute this with welcome bags, as it’s a destination wedding for MANY of our guests
DJ/Band/Ipod: DJ for a rockin’ dance party
Photobooth or other reception entertainment: Dancing and drinking. I genuinely dislike photo booths.

  • Wedding: April 2015

Guest #: 150ish
Wedding Party(#s): 4 girls, 3 guys so far.

Dress Style: Most likely ball gown
Veil Style: Not sure
Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): I hate to brag, but makeup is definitely my thing. My makeup almost always looks flawless and I am good at it. That being said, still going Pro hair and make-up because I don’t want to have to do it on my wedding day.

Honeymoon Location: No idea yet
Flowers:    Also no idea yet
First Dance Song:  Undecided. I really love DMB – you and me, though.
Centerpieces: undecided 🙁 haha

Oh my gosh, this is going to be scary… all you ladies have so much more done than I do!
Wedding Date: February 22, 2014

Engagement Length: 15 months – engaged November 10, 2012

Colors/Theme: Silver, grey, cream, fig

Guest #: 75

Wedding Party(#s): 3 BMs, plus my brother on my side, and 5 GMs

First Look: Yep! Since we’re running on limited daylight, and we don’t like the idea of a big gap between the ceremony and reception, we went with the first look idea.

Ceremony: Elegant but cozy room with a fireplace at our venue (a 1930’s inn)

Reception:Various other rooms at the inn – cocktails in the lobby (fireplace, great black & white tile floors, lots of open space), dinner in the main dining room, dancing/party in another room, and after hours in the original pub that is underground.

Transportation: I don’t think we’ll need any, since it’s all taking place in one location!

Dress Style: Let’s not even go there…

Veil Style: definitely a long one, at least a few feet on the floor, but the specifics aren’t decided on yet.

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro hair and make-up

Honeymoon Location: Hawaii – Maui and Kauai

Flowers: peonies, ranunculus, lambs ear, smattering of white roses, and pine cones

First Dance Song:  It’s a secret 🙂

Centerpieces: Branches, pine cones, candles, and flower balls made to look like snowballs.

Food/Menu: Haven’t gotten there yet, but our venue has delicious food, and we’re spending a great deal of money on the food/beverages. Hey, priorities!

Cake Flavor: Not sure yet, but the FI loves carrot, and I like red velvet.

Favors: We’re not sure – maybe little pine tree saplings in burlap bags, jams, or local chocolates.

DJ/Band/Ipod: DJ!!

Photobooth or other reception entertainment: Possibly a cigar bar, s’mores, whiskey/burbon bar, and some late-night eats!

  • Wedding: February 2014

Yay!! Super excited!!

Wedding Date: February 15, 2014
Engagement Length: Approx 15 months, we got engaged at the end of November 2012
Colors/Theme: Our colours are navy and lime/emerald green (I have yet to find a good way to describe the green I want!)
Guest #: About 250, but it keeps growing (sadly)
Wedding Party(#s): 4 attendants on each side, 1 flower girl
First Look: Nosir!
Ceremony: The oldest Catholic Church in our city! It’s basically a wedding factory!
Reception: Swanky downtown hotel — before we got engaged, it was my dream location!
Transportation: SUV stretch limo for us, our attendants and our photog … I’m toying with renting town cars for the family because it’ll be fah-reezing, but I’m not made of money! So we’ll see …
Dress Style: Don’t know yet … Everything I’ve tried on so far that I thought I’d like, I’ve hated. So far I know it’ll probably end up strapless with a sweetheart neckline. But only time will tell
Veil Style: Plain, raw-edged cathedral … I’m probably going to order it off Etsy, HAVE YOU SEEN THE PRICES OF THESE THINGS!? And they’re ITCHY!
Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro for both, I am inept!
Honeymoon Location: We’re thinking Costa Rica
Flowers: Not 100% sure, but I love the look of the big, fluffy romantic bouquets with lots of cabbage and big tea roses, peonies, hydrangeas, etc. Probably ivory and blush coloured. First Dance Song: Hard Sun – Eddie Vedder
Centerpieces: Not 100% sure, I’d like LOTS of candles, not a lot of florals. I am obsessed with this: http://pinterest.com/pin/260927372133023336/
Food/Menu: Typical buffet, crowd pleasing food
Cake Flavor: We’re both not big cake eaters, so our baker might make us a rice krispie or brownie cake, we haven’t discussed much about that yet!
Favors: Jelly Belly jelly beans in spice jars (they’ll also double as escort cards) … We’ll be doing gluten free/vegan candy as well because we have a lot of different diets coming to our wedding!
DJ/Band/Ipod: DJ
Photobooth or other reception entertainment: Photobooth! Jumping on the bandwagon!

Love reading about everyone else’s plans!!

@MissPreppytexas:  We’re colour twins! And we have the same centerpiece idea, but I’m not 100% set yet!
