@moonadea: Hopefully he will give it back. In case, have the proof it was left for a neighbor. If he causes problems, call the police and press theft charges against him.

Sometimes if the value of the package is high enough, it will require signature whether you want it to or not (because they don’t want it sitting on a doorstep where people could steal it).

IDK – the only issue here in my mind is that you don’t seem to like this neighbor.  But I’d be happy if a neighbor signed for me when I wasn’t home so I wouldn’t have to mess with rushing downtown after work to pick up the package from the central branch (which is what happens if they can’t deliver).

Sorry your pissed about it though.

I just don’t get why they’d think that if you aren’t home it’s perfectly ok to give your package to someone who could be a total stranger to you. If they have adopted an honor code policy, why do they even have a signature requirement? That would drive me crazy. If I’m not there and it’s too valuable to leave at the door, take it back with you and leave me a note. craziness

@moonadea: Moissaniteco has a required signature on all of they’re packages, I do think it was wrong of fedex to give the package to a neighbor and would call and complain if you run into any troubles

I do agree that it is wrong of them to have given the package to your neighbor. They don’t know if you and your neighbors are BFF, or if you don’t get along at all. I don’t even know one set of neighbors. The other ones are okay, but I don’t know them well enough to have them get a package for me. I would be upset, too!

I’d call them and raise hell about it. My ring is from MoissaniteCo, so I know that they DO require a signature since that’s a pretty significant purchase.

FedEx has no way of knowing your relationship with this neighbor, and they should NOT be giving it to somebody that doesn’t live at that address or someone to whom it was not addresed.

I have a crazy neighbor too so I can only imagine how you’re feeling!  Just take a breath and remember what it is that he has and how important it is to you – keep that in mind while you’re listening to him rant  Smile

Luckily it’s illegal for him to tamper with it, and you have proof from FedEx that he has it. Hopefully he will just give it back so you don’t have to take legal action. <3 Hope all goes well.

when i saw FH’s ring was being sent i put on a “hold at FedEx Location” as soon as possible. Picked it up yesterday hassle free, so next time you’ve got an important package coming try that! UPS had delivered FH’s cufflinks to a house on another street a few weeks earlier (luckily they were honest and brought the package by) so i wasnt taking any chances!
