We are getting married in fall and decided that it would look and feel best to do short dresses with tights, cardigans, and boots … these instantly became my inspiration photos:
So this is the look that I came up with on polyvore:
What do you think?
The groomsmen will be wearing gray suits with matching blue ties, but I haven’t decided if this will be the exact shade of blue yet or if I want more of a turquoise.
Our theme is rustic/eco-friendly, with a quick ceremony outdoors and reception indoors.

Although I think the prospective outfit you’ve selected is adorable, and I love the color of the sweater, I personally do not think this look says “wedding” or that it would really complement a bridal gown, unless your dress is extremely casual.

Honestly, I dont like design tights. They remind me of lingerie. I do see a lot of people around the city wearing them last fall though. so, it might be fashionable but to me, I dont think its appropriate, especially not for a wedding. I also think they make legs look thicker, so keep that in mind when it comes to your BMs body types. Is your wedding informal? this would def not work for a formal wedding…

I think that is awesome! I love pictures like that. I’m having short Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses in the winter, and I hope my girls change into boots for the reception because I think it will make awesome pictures! I say go for it!

@bdockery: I also don’t think it says “wedding”, as it’s something many girls would wear on an everyday basis.
The boots, especially, make it look extremely casual. I prefer the low pumps or mismatched heels in the inspiration photos you’ve posted, but then again, I’m more of a formal wedding girl, myself!
If you’re okay with it appearing extremely casual, or if that’s the look you’re going for, then I think you’ve achieved it with the outfit.

I love it except for the boots. They look too casual. I think heels might look better.

I like the overall look, but I would not do the patterned tights. I would do a grey tight.
The boots are a bit on the casual side for me. I would do something a little dressier like this:

I voted hate. Sorry! I just hate the tights. Love everything else. If I was your bm I would wear the tights but secretly hate them lol. But if you love them, and your bm’s are okay with it, then why not?

@winterbride1593: I agree with the tights thing. I have to say that patterned tights are not flattering for all legs, particularly when they are white/cream/beige!
If all of your BMs have great pins, then go for it, but if any of them are at all self conscious about their legs, then this will just amplify it.

i think it’s really cute! my girls will be wearing cardigans also, mostly for modesty’s sake (my church is very conservative). it can look a little too ordinary(?), but i definitely think you can make it work with the right pieces 🙂

Your options on the pool are going to give you a heart attack if you take them to seriously. The thing is I put it’s alright. I wouldn’t want this for my wedding but I don’t think it is bad if you want it at yours. I want a fancier look thats all. Your poll options though allow you to choose I love it I like it Its alright vs I hate it. So really you are at 50 50 because the 3+s have 5 and the hate its have 5 (at time of writing this.)
ETA I cant add its 6 for yes 5 for no. at the point I wrote this
Anyways I say go for it, its cute and in an outdoor fall wedding I think it would look very nice

As a Bridesmaid or Best Man, I would be super uncomfortable in the tights and I more than hate the shoes. But, I love the dresses and cardigans.
I think you need a dressier shoe, at least.

Instead of a plain cardigan would you consider a bolero? It just makes it a SMIDGE dressier.
Also not a fan of patterned tights, it’s really distracting and busy in the pictures you’ve posted. It’s the first thing I look at, even before the brides.
LOVE the grey dress. Not a fan of the boots but maybe if you went with something dressier that’d work.

I like everything but the boots. I seriously loved the pumps in that last inspiration pic, though. And I do agree with PPs that it’s a very informal look.

The outfit is very cute but in my opinion way too casual. It’s more like something to be worn to the mall or to a concert than to a wedding.
