In the second paragraph, I would try to focus more on the bride rather than the fact that she moved away and you didn’t. Do you have a little anecdote that you can share- something the two of you experienced together?

I was so happy to have Laura in my wedding, on the most important day of my life, and feel very honored to be here on one of their most important days.

    Maybe change it to:

When I got married, I was so happy to have Laura by my side, and when she asked me to stand up with her now on her beautiful wedding, it was an honour to accept.

@fallbride10111:  Sounds great!! The second paragraph is perfect like that as well.

@fallbride10111:  Much better than the first draft! The joke wasn’t hitting with all the details before.

    Great speech. 🙂

Are you marrying her?  no.  The worst thing about Bridesmaid or Best Man and Groomsmen speeches is when they focus on thier relationship with the bride groom.  the speech is to focus on the COUPLE’s relationship.  This is a toast for them, not to hear your relationship story, sorry this is harsh but no one will care.

“We were together every weekend, passed each other notes in school, and of course, formed crushes on boys together.  Keep in mind, this was before the days of Facebook, so our form of “stalking” would be rollerblading by their houses in an effort to see them.

At the end of 8th grade, the sad news came that Laura would be moving away.   I was devastated, but held onto some hope that I could convince my parents it would be best to move with Laura & her family. Unfortunately, they didn’t go for it.

In high school, we visited each other during the summers.  When we went off to college…..her to X and Y, we planned weekends to hang out.  Even though we were never in the same places, our friendship remained the same by staying touch and keeping each other in our lives.   I’m so lucky to have a friend like Laura who is always there, no matter how many miles apart we are.”

    First sentence:

For those of you who don’t know who I am, I’m Kristina.  Laura and I have known each other since elementary, but became inseparabl in middle school.  (no duh you had classes together)

    Then it gets better:

The first time I met Jason, I knew they were the perfect match.  They make each other laugh and get each other’s quirky jokes. (example instead of telling?  Did he get her a gift that only she would like, cut her crust off her sandwiches, what?)  I knew there was something special between them. (again what?) I had never seen Laura happier.  Talk more about the couple!

When I got married, I was so happy to have Laura by my side, and when she asked me to stand up with her now on her beautiful wedding, it was an honor to accept.  (Open with this)

I wanted to share a quote with you,  “A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person”….so here’s to Laura & Jason,  may you fall in love with each other all over again many more times! (Good.  I like speaches that end with quotes)

I think she should talk more about the couple but I also think it’s cute/funny to hear about the bride when she was little… the facebook/stalking/rollerblading paragraph is humorous.

I’d say keep the beginning and just add some details about the couple like PP said but it sounds great to me otherwise!
