I feel so embarrassed. I have been engaged for almost a year and I found our amazing photographers in January. I found them because of their unique boudoir style and booked a session months ago for August. I ordered my dress a size smaller and was all set to get in shape since January. They incorporate the w-dress in their boudoir photos and when mine came in early, in April, I was humiliated that it didn’t fit. I was set to lose the weight and it’s July and I feeel like I’ve made no progress. Now I feel like I have to push back my dress fitting and I just emailed our photog to reschedule my boudoir. I feel super self-conscious and insecure, even about what our photog thinks, which is silly. I can’t be the first girl to postpone boudoir pics, can I be?
It’s frustrating because before I got engaged I had just come back from living in Europe for a year, was almost at my ideal weight, super active, ate really healthy and felt so good in my own skin. Nowadays with grad school and wedding stress, it’s so hard for me to exercise, I eat out way too much, and don’t get enough sleep. Maybe because we’ve been engaged for a while, the clock hasn’t been ticking as much as it feels like it is now, but I’m spending a lot of money for the photos and I want to look my absolute best….and I don’t want to spend any more money on letting the dress out….and I want to look good when we go to Bora Bora!
How can I get motivated? Our wedding is in December. Is that enough time to drop 15 pounds?

@vanessa7: My best suggestion is join the gym. Its really motivating to see the changes in your own body through weight training and cardio. Weight training is the key though, because it allows your body to continue burning extra calories even after you’ve stopped working out.
You also need to cut out the fast food, and processed junk. Sure a cheat day once a week is fine, but don’t eat much more crap then that. Check out some clean eating blogs, for ideas or even look into some Paleo recipes. Also check out skinnytaste.com AND cut out all juices and soft drinks, those are totally empty calories.
The only thing thats going to motivate you, is you. Sure there are days when I can’t make it to the gym (this week for example, I only could go once, due to an injury) but you better believe after I rest up I’m going to be in that gym come Monday. Be accountable to YOURSELF.
You could lose 15 lbs by December, but you need to work for it.
Since going to the gym, I’ve actually gained weight but lost inches, thats whats important. I’m losing the fat I don’t want and slowly gaining lean muscle mass that I DO want.
If you need any workout suggestions let me know! Remember, you CAN do this, you just need to push yourself.
PS – Your wedding is on my birthday woooo! 🙂

Please don’t be embarrassed! There is so much stress put on brides to be skinny on their wedding day. It’s natural to want to look your best. Don’t stress, losing weight is HARD! I definitely agree with joining a gym, or finding a workout routine that will work for you. If you think running might be your thing give couch to 5k a try. It’s a great beginners running program! As for diet, eating healthy and in moderation is the key. Weight watchers works for most people who try it. I have tried the new plan a couple of times and personally it just didn’t work for me. If you’re looking for something to track your diet I suggest using My Fitness Pal. Super easy to use, huge database of foods, and best of all it’s free!

@JerseyGirl85: Thank you so much! yeah, it’s silly because I’ve ran marathons before and I should have no problem being motivated. I know how my body loses weight, but I just need to exercise every day and eat out less. I’ve never tried weight watchers, but in the past, just eating clean has helped me a lot. I guess I’ve just been in an unhealthy rut for too long.
