I think it is just a matter of time.  A first wedding anniversary in new, it’s something that has just begun and things are delicate in the beginning.  The longer it’s been around, the more firmly rooted it becomes and the more stable, and so people begin to just assume you’re doing well as a couple, and of course youll have another anniversary.  Im not saying that people are expecting a couple to break up in the first year of marriage, but it`s still new to them.

A six year anniversary is just that youve been together so long, people would be surprised at a break up, its just assumed you are in a couple and so they dont feel the need to celebrate.  Its still super exciting for a sixth anniversary!! To you though, not as exciting to everyone else.

For me, Fiance and I just had our 4th anniversary and I forgot about it until the day was almost over and he reminded me. It`s important to some people but not to all.

I hope that makes sense!

Well getting married is a big deal. Don’t let it bother you, as the PP said. It’s because it’s their first wedding anniversary. As time goes by things kind of drift off, if that makes sense. When you two get married i’m sure you’ll get heaps of attention on your first year anniversary.

Like other pp’s have said, it’s their first wedding anniversary and people are excited and happy for them b/c it’s their first one. Think of it this way…those same people that are excited over the first wedding anniversary isn’t as excited when it’s their 6th wedding anniversary.

@sherryberry:  I’m glad 🙂  Your sixth anniversary is still super special, just remember that!
