@JessicaJupiter: I don’t think your starting too early at all. I got engaged very end of Nov 2012 and did a majority of the planning in the first 6 months. I’ve done wedding stuff here and there since, but it was such a relief to not be scrambling around because I waited until the last minute. I’ve been able to relax and I’ve actually enjoyed most of the planning. Especially shopping for my dress, wedding favors, center pieces, and bridesmaid dresses.

Um NOPE not too soon! Good for you for being proactive! I was the same way, and believe me, there was plenty to keep me busy during the 7-ish months or so that I gotten a lot of things out of the way. I even threw in a couple more DIY projects, including making ribbon wands, which I didn’t originally plan on but ended up turning out great. My tastes didn’t really change over that time period, either.
My experience was also that wedding-type things gradually got more expensive the closer I got to my August wedding date (our flower-girl baskets, ring bearer pillows, both of which we got only a few weeks out), AND my first-choice flower girl basket was actually out of stock by that point 🙁 Definitely don’t delay for the sake of delaying! Sounds like you’re right on track 🙂

@JessicaJupiter: By all means, plan ahead! I’m getting married in October as well, and have only started looking at venues. I’d be stoked if I already had as much as you’ve done under my belt! 🙂

@CandieC88: Part of what I am worried about with waiting is the increase in prices! For example, we need to get Fiance a suit and I heard after March the prices are going to be hire just because people need them for weddings and they won’t go down again until the end of the year – so that is something that certainly needs to be done sooner rather than later.

I’ve been doing lots of little things because I don’t want to be stressed near the end. I bought my wedding shoes, accessories, our wedding bands.

The time will fly by. I swear it was only yesterday we had 9 months to go, and now it’s 5 1/2! plan at whatever pace is right for you 🙂

I am also getting married this October. I booked the venue, photographer, DJ, bought my dress and am meeting with an officiant this weekend. If anything I feel behind!

No way, you are being smart! Vendors book up quickly so it makes plenty of sense to book now if you can.
