- Wedding: July 2012
So on a random chance today, myself and two of my bridesmaids all had the day off. We decided to use this time to go and unexpectantly try on more bridal gowns for me (yay!!). Though I live outside of Los Angeles where you would think there would be a billion bridal stores in the area, there are only 3 in a 25-30 mile radius.
We head to store #1 (we did not have an appointment) and I tried on dresses for about 45 mins-1 hr and there was NO one in the store and the one stylist was fine with helping us. I did find a pretty dress…I just dont know if it was MY dress so we decided to go to a different store…
Now granted we did not call…it was 2:30pm on a Wednesday..how busy could they be?? So we drove sort of out of the way to go to store #2. We get there..theres 2 other clients in the store so we look around..they have some pretty designer names with decent prices and I obviously would like to try a few on. A sales associate approaches us after 15 mins or so and asks “Hi are you Jill??” (Im not) and so I replied no…but if possible I would like to try some gowns on. The associate (rather rudely) says that this is impossible because she has 3 appointments coming in at 4 and theres just nowhere to put me if they come in. I would have been fine vacating a room if an appointment had shown up (it was 3:15) and they needed it..I just wanted to try some on.
I was kind of shocked that she was basically willing to lose a customer/sale on the off chance that all 3 appointments would show up in 45 mins. She then told me if I want to go in and try on gowns then I could make an appointment (though their website says that an appointment is only recommended..not required).
So I went over…made an appointment for next week..though I was rather put off since it was a big store and there was practically no one in there….
Anyway, I drive home (about 30 mins away) and as Im pulling into the driveway, I get a call from them saying one of their appointments cancelled if I could come back they would be able to have me try on dresses.
Annoyed, I say uhh sure..but itll take me time to get back down there…
The time now is 4:30..and theres traffic (it is southern cali afterall) and Im not even halfway there and now its 5:15 so I call and cancel and they move my appointment back to next week.
I just feel…rubbed the wrong way. Granted I did NOT have an appointment, I just feel like in this economy could this salon REALLY afford to risk losing a customer by basically turning me away??? I dont know if Ill be back now.
