I am 12w4d and for the last week or so, I’ve really been getting full quickly when I eat. I’ve also started to really show over that same amount of time, so I guess that has something to do with it! I am tall but I have a really short torso, so I’m guessing that there is just less room in there!
Has this happened to anyone else? I usually have NO trouble finishing meals but lately it is all I can do to eat a decent amount…I am no longer a member of the clean plate club! Don’t get me wrong…I’m not malnourished or anything like that, just curious if others have had the same issue.

Happened to me, too. My husband laughs at how quickly I go from “OMG STARVING FEED ME NOW” to “okay, I’m done.” I eat more snacks to compensate.

I have not had this happen during pregnancy. But I think a good thing to help would be to snack small through out the day. 🙂

Ha ha. It gets worse. I also go from starving to full in a few bites. And then starving again an hour later. LOL There is no room in me. My Darling Husband says it’s like I got a gastric bypass. 🙂

Be thankful you can eat at all! I eat really, really small amounts because otherwise I gag and/or vomit.
I haven’t had a meal in weeks. 🙁
I am happy for you that you have made it this long without issue!

Oh totally! I can only eat a very small amount of food at a time. Even if I am super hungry I can only eat like… one piece of pizza. For me, it is because my digestion has slowed down. So, I literally cannot handle/ digest very much at once. I have to eat one serving of one thing at a time, and then sometimes drink a carbonated beverage just to digest!

Especially earlier on, I woud get full very fast… dinner was always the worst.
Pregnant women are often perpetual grazers… small meal after small meal. Your digestion has slowed down and all your organs are smooshing together.
Strangely, as I’ve gotten bigger (32w5d now), I’ve had less problem with this though I still cannot eat portions as large as I could before pregnancy.

I’m just 10w5d and I noticed this starting for me too. If I eat too much I literally almost get sick because it’s like my stomach can’t hold all the food in. Now that I’ve actually put my finger on it I’m going to make an effort to eat much less.

Sorry for other’s that have the same issue, but glad to hear I’m not the only one! I wish I could just eat smaller, more often, but my job doesn’t really lend itself to that (I’m a teacher.) I am going to try to sneak in an extra snack.

@tnbellebee: I’m a teacher too and I just eat all day long anyway. I literally take a bag of snacks with me. The kids don’t care. 🙂

I find eating an apple or yogurt helps me (which the fiber/etc in these help keep you regular). And during those early weeks I drank protein drinks. Those are easy snacks/meals you can take with you to school. I kept crackers and nuts at my desk. I also noticed for me if I drank something while I ate then I felt like it was going to come back up or it didn’t settle well. So I started get a diet soda with my meals which I really don’t want to drink so it kept me from drinking a lot of it. Then after my meal I’d down a glass of water.
Hope those tips help you feel better.

I’ve had this off and on my whole pregnancy, starting pretty early. One tip I got was to not drink a ton with your meal, that can help if you start to get heartburn. I have a 32 oz Starbucks water glass attached to my hip and drink 5-6 a day, so I don’t have to worry about getting a lot of liquid at mealtimes and can fit more food in 🙂
Like others, I switched to grazing when in a full phase. Apples, cheese sticks, yogurts, bagels, granola bars, the peanut butter cheesy cracker sandwich thingys – all were standbys for me. I would sometimes be so un-hungry that Darling Husband would be on his own for dinner, or I would only have three or four bites of what he cooked and be done.

I have this issue too!! I am also gulity of being a really fast eater. Sometimes I eat and eat and then realize I’ve passed my food limit when it’s too late which means a quick trip to the bathroom to throw up.
My Darling Husband now gets on me about eating little bits at a time so I don’t end up with my head in the toilet.

@tnbellebee: I teach second grade and the kids have just accepted that I need to do certain things to take care of the baby. 🙂

Thanks for all the suggestions! Today was easier….I had apple and peanut butter for breakfast, then we had a potluck thing at work and I ate quite a bit then (so many yummy desserts!), and then I had a california pizza kitchen pizza for dinner….well, 3 slices (it was thin crust). I drank a BIG glass of ginger ale, which I think helped. I’m going to have a grapefruit in a little bit.
