@mixtaperomance:  I started using the elastic trick on my pants at 8 weeks, and bought my first maternity jeans at 12. The bloating is insane in the first trimester, and sometimes our bodies don’t let us eat anything but the bad stuff, lol.

Everyone is different and there’s no shame in making the switch early!!! I’m nearly at 21 weeks and I can still get by with the elastic band trick (most of my pants were at least a size too big pre-pregnancy, though) and I still feel like most maternity pants are too big … but I feel like a freak of nature in the other direction, haha. HOW COME I’M SO SMALL STILL? WHEN IS THE OTHER SHOE GOING TO DROP??? If your pants aren’t comfortable, then do something about it. Nobody will know unless you tell them 😉

I wore my first pair of maternity pants at 10 weeks! I was so bloated that my regular pants were so uncomfortable. Everyone is different 🙂

I lived in my Liz Lange Target maternity pants from like 8 weeks on, that and maxi dresses were seriously the only thing I was comfortable in.

I bought my maternity clothes at arund 7 or 8 weeks, I haven’t been wearing them often but they do come in handy sometimes. My pants all fit, but I have to wear a belt (because my butt is so big there’s a gap in the back between my waist and the waistband) and the belt is really uncomfortable. My belly kind of sits on top of it lol. For comfort sake you should definitely make the switch, my doctor told me to avoid things that are tight on your belly, it can actually make your morning sickness worse.

Do it.  You’ll be so much more comfortable and why not get a little more mileage out of them. I wasn’t in maternity full time until almost 20 weeks and it chaps my ass that I had to spend so much on clothes that I’ll only wear for a few months.

@mixtaperomance:   I remember that feeling!  The bump is sssooo different from fat.  Fat squishes out of the way but even a little tiny baby bump is so firm and sensitive.  I could not STAND anything around or even touching my waist from very early on.  I think it’s perfectly normal.  Even if you aren’t showing yet (I didn’t show until 6 months but wore maternity clothes much sooner than that) you still need to be comfortable.

Totally do whatever is most comfortable! I had Target maternity jeans- super comfy and cheap:) I only bought them to wear to work- during non-working days, I’d wear maxi dresses or jogging pants w/tank tops (around the house). The worst for me was in the last trimester- super-boated ankles, calves and feet…ugh it was awful. I could hardly walk by the end of the day.

I’m almost 7 weeks along and hate to admit that I’m wearing maternity jeans today because of the bloat.  They’re not the full panel kind, just have a soft elasticy waistband but I seriously feel so much more comfortable today than I did yesterday in my regular jeans with a belly band.

I thought I was a freak too, because it seems like everything on the internet says you should be able to wear your normal clothes through your first trimester (why does it say that?!!).  Some of my jeans felt uncomfortably tight in the waist just a few weeks in.  I’m pretty sure it was just a lot of bloating, because now  I’m at 14 weeks, gained 7 pounds, but I feel like my stomach is the same size as it was at 4 weeks.  I’m still wearing normal jeans, but I can only wear one pair because it sits pretty low under the belly area.

I started wearing my biggest pants (if you know what I mean) pretty much right away.  I was bloated before I knew I was pregnant!  Then I did the hairband trick with my biggest pants, and was in my maternity pants pretty fast.  DO WHATEVER makes you comfy!

Don’t be ashamed!   I didnt wear maternity pants until around 17 weeks bc i had too much pride and wanted to pretend like i was still skinny and as soon as I put them on I wondered why i didnt earlier.  I am probably going to start wearing them at like 5 weeks with the next baby because they are SOOO comfy.  I wish all pants had a huge band of elastic – who on earth invented the button and fly? My husband is going to have to peel me out of them bc I am not giving them up after this baby.

My advice – get maternity yoga pants.  Life changing experience.
