Wait a minute.  Am I reading this right?  You’re 50?  That isn’t possible – you don’t even look 40 in those photos!  I hope I look that amazing when I reach the fabulous age of 50!  Congratulations on your wedding!

First of all, you look great. Congratulations on your wedding!

Second, you look better and look like to take care of yourself better than a lot of 20 somethings.

Third- the 20 somethings will one day be 40 somethings. You just have to embrace and focus on your positive qualities and love life!

I think you look great. Also, keep in mind that most professional wedding photogs do a LOT of retouching. So it’s really not even fair to compare your wedding photos to those of 20-somethings anyway. Even the 20-somethings don’t actually look that good in most cases!

Mountain Man says Im not allowed to compare myself to anyone born pre-moon landing.  That heps a LOT in keeping my morale up.

We shouldnt compete with 20,30, or even 40 somethings..  We are awesome in our own way.

I think baby boomer issue is that we have no one as role models.  Before us women did age quicker.  Remember 50 is the new 30 😉 especially with a new love in your life.

@retreadbride:  You look great. Don’t even worry about it. I am 48 and will be married one month after my 50th birthday. Yes, I’ll get the airbrush makeup but other than that I am not going to stress about it. I am engaged to a 60 year old with 3 times the amount of energy than the whiny 35 year old I used to date.

Its not that we don’t have role models. Women used to chop off their hair as soon as they hit 35 and dress frumpy/matronly. They still had young faces but this went unnoticed because of their hair and clothes. That’s why 50 year olds look so much younger than they did 30 years ago.

@nycsa:   Hair-  I remember in my 30’s thinking- “when Im 50 I have to have short hair.” and actually heard a 20 something co-worker mention the same thing. Geez- I have great hair, and as long as Clarol can cover the roots Im keeping it long.

@retreadbride:  Look at any Hollywood actress who people think looks young. Have they chopped their hair off and let it go grey?  Now look at the same photo and give then short grey hair. See what I mean?

It’s funny that you posted this (well not funny that you aren’t feeling so good about yourself, more like funny in a coincidence sort of way) because I saw one of your posts a while back (I think it was about your dress) and you mentioned your age. I was surprised by your age, think you said you were like 50? I thought you looked like you were more like 37-42. I know those are random numbers, but that’s what I was thinking at the time. You can do what my mom does and claim that I’m just saying this, or you can believe me when I say you honestly look 40. Your choice 😉
