Does anyone feel out of proportion with their bust/waist/hips sizes?
Last night, Fiance measured me so I can order a proper fitting Spanx and today I, just for fun, decided to look at the vintage dresses I favorited on Etsy to see if any came near my sizes.
My measurements: Bust 40.5, Waist 34.5, and Hips 43.
When I look at the dresses I like, I may fit (or nearly) one of the three and the other two are vastly off, sometimes by more than 12 inches!
I’ve always been difficult to costume in theatre (I frustrated designers to no end!), but now looking at dresses is making me look at myself and wonder what went wrong with proportions?!
I will get professionally measured when I get my Spanx, but I still am worried that all three measurements won’t fit into one gown! Lol!

They will! It will definitely take some alterations, but they will! My measurements are: 38, 34, 44. Very similar to yours…and my dress actually fit just fine (without alterations, funny enough). It will take some searching, but you will find one!

You actually might get away with not needing a lot of alterations. I have bigger hips so the top of my dress was HUGE! You might be perfect size for a dress since you have equivalent hips and bust.

I always feel hugely unproportionate. My measurements are 33 , 24, 38….. urgh absolutely no boobs, big hips compared to waist.
OP, you sound completely in proportion by measurements. Hourglass shape for sure.

My hips are ridiculous compared to the rest of me. I’m 34, 28, 42

I am a pear girl. I found this website a while back that you put your measurements into and it suggests clothing styles

I’m 42-36-50, I’ve had people say I looks like my top and bottom belong to two separate bodies, I already have to have regular clothes altered, we’re just curvy. Alterations/made to measure are our best friends. I’m way out of proportion, you sound lovely.

Ugh I feel ya, girl. I am VERY disproportionate! I am 34.5, 27.5, 42! It sucks, but I just keep remembering that Fiance loves my body and my curves. I ended up getting a wedding dress with straps and a deep v neck to balance out my curvy hips.

I’m 33-24-36 but my I have super broad shoulders, which throws off my proportions visually.

I’m the same… 36-26-40. I’ve ordered my wedding dress online in a size big enough to fit my hips, and I’m prepared to do some serious alterations in the waist area… Haha.

I’m 32, 26, 39. I’ve always felt out of proportion lol, mainly when I’m buying clothes. I do love the way my body is shaped though.

I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling “off”!

I forgot my exact measurements, but my waist and hips put me in a size 12 gown. My bust puts me in a 16. :-S I bought a 16 and now I need some alterations. no biggie.
