It’s been a hard week back in the office, it seems like that’s how it always goes after a vacation. I had a great time while I was gone, but coming back to the mess always makes me wonder if it was worth it at all….which I know is silly…but I’m a grumpasaurus rex right now.
Wort, the puppy is wonderful and I love having him, but even at less than a pound in weight, he’s exhausting….adjusting to Puppy-Schedule has been taxing on us all.
Mr. 99 is crab-tastic today, he didn’t sleep well and through perfect timing managed to be in the throes of begrudgingly bottling my brother in law’s beer when I got home…so of course I had to help, by the time that was done, it was time for me to go back to work.
I left my wedding ring at the house, not wanting to get beer and yeast and iodine in it…so now I feel creepy and naked and grumpier than before.
And to top it all off, I have a raging headache, my ears feel like they’re going to explode and I still have two and a half hours to go…
But the guilt factor comes in on my grandfather, my sweet, lovely, wrinkly little lamb of a 92 year old grandfather. Mr. 99 and I usually go have drinks and dinner with him on Thursdays, last week I took Wort, it’s always so fun. I called to cancel, and I feel SOOOOO badly about it. I’m his little ray of sunshine and we always have so much fun, but I’m wrecked and the guilt is going to eat me alive….tell me I’m not a bad person.
I deserve a night off too? Right?

You deserve a night off. It sounds like you’ve had A DAY…or two.
I remember puppy schedule. It is tough work.
Take a break tonight!

@Nona99: You are definitely not a bad person! And you definitely deserve a night off! Just think about it this way. Next week’s drinks with gramps will be even better because you get to have two weeks’ worth of fun!

Absolutely! It’s a beautiful day… take some time for yourself!

@Nona99: Of COURSE you deserve a night off! You can’t look out for everyone else all of the time at the expense of your own sanity… take care of yourself! Relax and spend some time with that adorable pup of yours.
I too remember puppy training days and nights…. Not fondly. Haha

@Nona99: You deserve a day to recharge your batteries. Before you know it, you’ll be his happy ray of sunshine again in no time.

You do!! Hugs!! Try to reschedule for tomorrow or something, if you are feeling terrible about it. By then you’ll be rested and feeling more up to it 🙂

You are not a bad person!!! I’m sure you never cancel and he probably knows that if you had to cancel it must be a REALLY bad day today! Go home and relax and have a glass of wine! He’ll be there next week to hang out with 🙂 Or take him to brunch on Sunday or something to make up for it if you feel bad not getting that time this week.
ETA: I especially love grumpasaurus rex LOL I totally add asaurus to words! (ignorasaurus for example)

Even rays of sunshine need a day off! Dinner and drinks with a grumpy-pants is never a fun time, so recharge and rest. Spend a little extra time getting puppy snuggles, and you’ll be in fine form next week.

Ugh..the Dragon Lady JUST came in here….reeking of Chanel 5….I may vomit…she and the rest of the staff are heading out for an ass kissy company dinner complete with open bar and door prizes…was I invited? NO!
I’m only the owner’s daughter, with the second highest sales rating and 100% business retention…why should I be invited to a cushy glad-hand fest on a Thursday when I could be slaving away in here???/
It’s cool…I’ll just keep pushing paper and listening to my Dad chew out the secretaries who seem to be having a ball accusing each other of messing up….
Blarg….if this doesn’t make an alcoholic out of me, nothing wil
