My parents asked me to go get my ring size to pass on to my now-husband back in early August. At the time I sized at 5.5 which is the size that was passed on my husband*. I subsequently lost a little bit of weight and by the time he gave me the ring in September it was already too loose. I finally went to go get resized about 2 weeks ago and my size came in at between 4.5 & 5, but the guy at the counter said that he didn’t think the jeweler could do 4.75 or didn’t have the ring sizer available for that size at that juncture (forget what his excuse was). I agreed to 5 because 4.5 felt wayyy to tight. Well, I dropped the ring off shortly before Hurricane Sandy and just got it back on Friday (precious, I’ve missed you). It seemed smaller, fit a bit more tightly and I accepted that they had done the job.
Today I’m sitting here and my ring feels just as flipping loose as it was at 5.5!! I have been regularly working out and eating healthily for my upcoming wedding* for the last week but I can’t believe my ring would get this loose in 4 days. It literally feels just as bad as when it was at 5.5.
Has this happened to anyone? I don’t know why this couldn’t have been done properly the first time. I hate not having it on my finger-I don’t wear a wedding band as it is not our culture so ring in the shop means no ring at all. Boo.
*we’re court married so I could get on his insurance but our families insisted on a huge Hindu wedding in India

My finger size fluctuates based on how hot/cold/bloated I am. My ring gets really loose when I’m really cold. Could that be the problem?

I am freezing as my office is not heated at all by the hippies who run the building as a matter of fact. Didn’t know that could affect it. But I have worn it to work out and it should get tighter from bloodflow and doesn’t seem to at all. I will hold off another few weeks and see if this is just a daily fluctuation or whether I should go get it resized again.
Thanks for the heads up!

You’d be surprised how much the cold can affect it. My fingers go down about half a size from summer to winter. Maybe get a ring guard in the meantime to help with the fit. and then when your weight is stable, you can have it sized once and for all instead of tampering with it every once in a while.

@lolaswann: I was actually going to say that. I am usually a size 6.25 but my ring is a 7 becauase my hands tend to swell. But when I get cold my hands are like maybe a 6 and my ring falls off. And not even kidding my finger changes sizes like once every few days! That is why I have never sized it!

Mine is a 6.5. Now that it’s cold outside, the thing spins like crazy and moves quite far down my finger at times (not big enough to where it’s in danger of flying off, but the diamond still tends to spin to the underside of my hand). In the summer, and even this time of year when I’m hot it fits fine. At times, it’s even a bit tight.
