My fiancee and I are going to Rome for our honeymoon in December. I stumbled upon a website called flipkey in our search for hotels, and we actually ended up booking an apartment instead! There’s more space, it’s economical, and we like the freedom of being able to stop into a local market to gather ingredients for dinner instead of eating out every night. The couple who own it have great reviews, and have been very easy to deal with. If you search on flipkey or tripadvisor, I think the name of the apt we are staying in is called the Dolce Roman Forum. I highly recommend it (based on my experience from afar!)

I spent a month in Florence last summer, and while I’m by no means an expert- I do know how to get around and where to get the best gelato. 😉 If you have any questions about Firenze (excluding hotels, since I rented an apartment) feel free to pm me!

One place I really wanted to go but never got the chance was Cinque Terre, which I think you should consider checking out. Also, I’d skip Venice. Its beautiful, but the prices are nearly triple those of Florence, and it exists soley off of tourism so its hard to feel the heartbeat of the city.
