Okay, so I’m kinda chubby (size 14), but love myself and am super comfortable with how I look. I bought my dress 6 months ago and it felt GREAT in the store! I was thrilled and never second guessed my decision.
Flash forward a few months to when the dress was ready for pickup. I tried it on with a bridal satin corset the shop recommended, and felt aweful. The corset was MUCH tighter than anticipated. The original one I tried on must have been stretched out from so many women trying it on. The dress looked Okay, but the corset caused some back fatt spillage 😑
I tried my whole outfit on again yesterday and realized I was just so uncomfortable that I just couldn’t do it. I ended up trying on the dress today with no corset or bra (out of frustration), AND I LOVED IT!!!! The whole thing looks and feels a million times better with no damn corset at all!
Any other plus size brides feel like this in their wedding dresses? Did you do something about it or just stay uncomfortable all night? Also, can anyone REALLY be comfortable in a corset???

I would try a corset back in the actual dress. I had one and was very comfortable the entire day. I cannot IMAGINE having an actual corset on all day, especially on such an important day!

As long as you’re not going to have some kind of wardrobe malfunction I’d ditch the corset. If you need more support at least go find the comfiest strapless bra you can. Comfort is so important, if you can’t stand it now imagine wearing it for hours and hours.

That is exactly what happened to me!! I bought corset, longline strapless bra, regular strapless bra and none of them worked well! Had the same problem with stretched out sample bra too. I was full on panicking until I just tried without any and it worked perfect! So much more comfortable and less bulgy. Lol

Exactly what I did. I couldn’t find shapeware that didn’t cause weird lines or back spillage so I went completely nude under my dress haha 🙂

I ended up taking my bra off between the ceremony and reception. The bodice of my dress snug enough with built in bra cups that I didn’t really need it anyway and it was making me sweaty. I can’t tell a difference when I look at pictures and I was much more comfortable without it!

Same here! Bought shapewear that went from my ribcage to my thighs thinking it would just help smooth everything out and not only felt somewhat uncomfortable but thought it made me look worse! Ended up wearing nothing but panties under my dress and felt amazing!

I’m going commando under mine… It has so much structure that a bra and shapeware is not needed.

Not at all meaning to be offensive here, but I think shapewear can’t really do much. Honestly I don’t think it makes anyone look thinner, it just redistributes the fat in an uncomfortable and unflattering way. Fat that is spilling out of places it shouldn’t is much worse that it hanging where goes naturally (not counting bra support, but most bridal dresses have that built in)

niahc : Couldn’t agree more!
Glad I’m not the only person whose ever felt like this 🤣
