I don’t think it would effect your ovulation, but I have heard it isn’t good for the pH of your lady parts, they should self regulate. You also don’t want to clean out any sperm. Many women (myself included) lay with our hips elevated (i.e. a pillow under my butt or my feet on the headstand) for about 15 minutes after BDing to help the sperm get to where they need to go.

PS-congratulations on your recent marriage!

@KH:  I agree with everything you said. It’s really not “safe” to wash internally with products like that anyways.

As far as I understand, the vagina is a self-cleaning oven. It’s ok to rinse the outside with warm water but anything more is really invasive and can affect the VERY DELICATE BALANCE up there. It won’t affect your ovulation tests but you could create a very hostile environment for sperm and put yourself at increased risk of vaginal infections.

@idaho1745:  I was having a lot of yeast infections and uti’s from using too much regular soap and my doctor suggested using cetaphil face wash because I didn’t feel comfortable using just water. I’ve been using it for over 2 years and it has worked wonders. I rarely get a yeast infection or UTI now. And I just got my BFP so it clearly doesn’t affect the TTC process much. I actually use the generic from Target because its so much cheaper.

@idaho1745:  thanks! Honestly when they told me about it I thought it was bs. I don’t even see that doctor anymore lol. But it honestly change my life, I don’t have to get up and per and shower right after sex anymore, I can lay there for 15 or 20 minutes if I want.

@idaho1745:  Before planning to TTC I used to use these products, cause mostly a friend recommended and I was curious, but gave me the work yeast infections, one after another….When I went to my MD she told me not to ever use it again cause it can harm your lady parts.  Scare me sh!tless, so Im going to assume that it will also harm your chances while TTC.  I only use it 3 times and never again.

The easiest way to combat UTI’s is to pee after sex after you clean yourself off. Clean around your urethra and your labia if they touch around your urethra, making sure the area is dry and then pee and dry again. I was a chronic UTI’er until I picked up this method.

I wouldn’t think an external wash would hurt your chances of TTC since it’s, well, external. I also think the pH balance is a sham because again… external. I’d just use a little soap, a little water, rinsy rinsy and call it a day. Probably save you a lot more money, too.
