Tell me about it! The other day I went to a potluck & wanted to add a bit of rose wine into my glass of sprite (3/4 full). Someone SNATCHED THE BOTTLE AWAY FROM ME! Are you kidding?! It would have been a FRACTION of a glass of wine… GRUMPY!!!
I’m also a bad pregnant lady. I’ve had raw sushi over a dozen times, lots of raw beef, unripened cheese, coldcuts… Essentially, I’ve eaten pretty much everything I shouldn’t except for raw shellfish (which I really don’t enjoy).

Call me a wimp but I stay away from anything that I’m even slightly nervous about! I’m totally missing deli meat 🙁

Maybe I’m also a bad preggo, but I have basically eaten completely normally, as I did pre-pregnancy (I’m 10 weeks). The one thing I do avoid is fish high in mercury. I didn’t eat any ahi at Christmas even though there was some absolutely delicious looking fresh pieces at my parents house. Sigh. I also haven’t eaten any raw sushi rolls but they kind of just don’t sound good anyway. Like everyone else said, feta is fine if it’s pasteurized!

You’re rad. This is so good to hear, thank you for “admitting” it. I almost feel like a bad person for eating what I want, even though I eat really healthy! I would definitely have a raw sushi roll from a quality restaurant that I trust over, say, Taco Bell.

@TaurianDoll: I’ve eaten Feta with both my pregnancies. (I’m Greek, just so you know how much I LOVE feta cheese.)
I also eat almost completely the same as before.

OMG the snatching it out of your hand thing is SO NOT COOL. My bitchy Future Sister-In-Law, who was not at all happy for some reason about our pregnancy announcement (maybe because I’m due 5 weeks after their wedding?)…was so so so so judgmental about the concept of me having a glass of wine while pregnant when I said I’d likely do so if my doctor okayed it. People…not your baby…not your choices or call in how they choose to eat or drink! Ugh, definitely a pet peeve.
As for the original question, I voted yes…but if you have the chance to ask if it’s pasteurized or check a package, do that for safety.
The way I have been approaching it is a little morbid…but if anything went wrong or came up as a defect or miscarriage, would I worry or attribute it back to x that I ate or drank that was on the “do not eat or drink list” for pregnant women? Most of the time, it’s a no.

@TaurianDoll: most cheeses, even soft ones in the US are pasturized which makes them safe. Look on the label to see if it’s pasturized, I’ve had feta since being preggo!

From the research I’ve seen, I have feta cheese on the NO list! I only eat pasturized cheeses while pregnant! I’d def check with your doctor first though because I’m a HUGE queso cheese lover and every website said not to eat it… then my doctor said we can definitelty eat pasturzied american queso(which the queso at the grocery store and at moe’s, chipotle, etc is) (phew!), we just can’t eat the pure, unpasterized mexican queso..

I use that very same morbid outlook!

Love the feta. The only thing I really avoided was deli meat but I dont like it anyway so it wasnt even an issue. I dont know if DQ blizzards have soft serve cause I ate a few of those…lol
I had Steak Tartare at 8 months preggo, didnt even dawn on me until after that I had eaten raw meat! I was sick that night but I had bad morning sickness the whole pregnancy and also ate 3 rich chocolate desserts after the server mixed up the table’s order. I think i was sugar drunk cause i sure ended up with sugar hangover! It was a birthday celebration and everyone else was drinking so I went nuts with food 🙂
