it depends on your budget.
i was surprised how much real petals cost, but I think that if you can afford it they’re nicer.

Honestly for what the cost is for real rose petals to the few moments that people pay attn to the Flower Girl going down the aisle is prob not worth the cost for realy when you can get fake for a few dollars

I got roses at costco – 3 dozen for $16, and took the petals off those. I bought 4 dozen, and had ore than enough for the flower girl, my cake table, sweetheart table , and 35 or so boutineers.. with probably a dozen and a half left over.

I had bought real rose petals to use with our centerpieces.  There was enough to put some in the basket for the flower girl.  Had we not been using petals on the tables I probably would have just gotten silk.  It is cheaper and easier to get the right quantity.

We used fake. Had to pick them up a few times too, after she practiced and then accidentally dumped them out, etc. I don’t think the real ones are worth the hassle for how little they’re noticed.

I agree…I don’t think many people would notice either way. The focus is on the little girl!

@sueanddemetrius: aaahh!! omg, Sorry!! I must have been really out of it last night.. I counted them up wrong.. its $16 for 2 dozen, and I bought 3 of them (so 6 dozen total), but probably could have just bought 4 dozen and had enough since I had the dozen and a half to 2 leftover.

Does your venue allow real flower petals? My venue doesn’t allow it for various reasons so we are opting for fake petals.

Check with your venue… Our venue wont allow FAKE rose petals, it is outdoor and she said that they blow everywhere and dont break down since they are fake… we are doing real petals.
