should we thank people for coming as the night goes on… or publically in the form of a small speech for all?
I know sometimes the host does something like this, but am not sure how we would handle this being the hosts at our own wedding.

Darling Husband and I didn’t host, but we went around and thanked people for coming individually. I think if you want to make a speech, go for it, but I would also try to talk to everyone individually too.

I would just do it during the speaches, but also as you are mingling. I think that you will naturally just do both anyway.

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
We did both. Mr. LK gave a short welcome speech before the first course was served, and we both personally thanked every guest for being there with us. We had a wedding weekend and a small guestlist, so we made sure to have real conversations with everyone over the course of events.

We thank the guests after cake cutting in a small speech. Since our wedding was small, we visited the tables and also thank the guest individially and have a little chit chatwith everyone.

Darling Husband and I hosted. Right after our cake cutting Darling Husband made a small speach. It was nice. I always wanted to hear the bride and groom speak at weddings.
we also individually thanked every guest
