I’m sure there are plenty of people that have smaller guests on their side. I think it’s nice of you to care. A lot of people also have uneven number of attendants, so you don’t have to find someone to fill the spot. Something you can do is have a mixture of guests sitting together during the ceremony and reception so that it doesn’t look like one side has more guests.

Since a wedding is the joining of two families into one why not focus less ont he fact that your FI will only have 7 guests and more on the fact that 50 (or whatever the number of guests are) family and friends have come to celebrate your FI and your marriage.

I would look at it as all of your family are his family as well etc.

@futuremrslennon:  Happy to be of help! Are you concerned about the friendship or replacing him? If it’s replacing and you really want someone to fill the spot who comes first to mind without even thinking twice? That can be your person even if it doesn’t fit the norm (like a female cousin etc.)

If it’s about the friendship, well it completely sucks he’s coming to your FI like that. Money and success can really bring the bad out from people. Hopefully he wises up and apologizes for his actions or it’s good to know now how well he values the relationship.

I’m sorry that the two of you have to go through something like this. FI and I actually had a falling out with our MOH and Best Man about a month ago. We are now down to 2 groomsmen and 3 bridesmaids. As hard as it is to let something like this just go, sometimes that is the best thing you could do. Most of our close friends are mutual friends, however I will only have 4 people from my family for sure be at our wedding. I invited a few of my friends from school, but that’s it. I’m really close with FI’s family, probably even closer than with most of my family, so it really feels like I have a ton of people there for both of us, not just one or the other.

Having an uneven number of groomsmen and bridesmaids isn’t a big deal in my opinion… We would feel worse having to ask someone just to fill a spot, but we knew from the beginning that it would be uneven because one of our groomsmen is in the military.

I also agree with what one bee said, the wedding is about both sides joining together to celebrate. Just enjoy your wedding and don’t let small things like this ruin your day!

@futuremrslennon:  Maybe suggest they go out for a beer? They may be able to patch things up once they both cool down and the friend realises that he wasn’t being a good friend.
