@forever:

They’ll be charged a bounced check fee. If a check bounces fr an reason they get charged ex: returned for nonnsufficient funds, closed account, etc.

@forever:

They might, it depends on how much they get charged. At my work we get charged $20 so that’s what we charge for a returned check fee, its just to recoup what we were charged.

You’re probably just going to have to pay the 30 bucks and be more careful next time.

It’s pretty much the same as a bounced check. They deposited your payment. There were no funds to cover it. They were hit with a fee. I’d just pay the $30 and not challenge your landlord.

That sucks! If it were your own bank I would try to get them to do “customer service” and waive it just this one time ( I have done this before and gotten it waived for the reason that it was an honest mistake) but since it is their account you cant call and ask for that 🙁

Hey, call your bank and explain your error. Our bank does this for us all the time, we’ve had an account with them for years but sometimes things do happen. Most of the time if you own up and try to work out a compromise they can help you, but don’t wait because after a certain point there is nothing they can do anymore.

Sorry I wasn’t clear I meant maybe you could call the bank your rent normally goes through (landlord’s/apartment’s bank) and explain that you made an error so the fee can be waived? It’s worth a shot.
