Try platinum.

When he’s working with his hands and needs something that can break or snap, try silicone rings like Enso or SafeRingz.

daaangerzone :  well if you want a “forever” ring, then tell him he’ll need to drop some dough on it. If he wants a white metal, platinum will be his best friend (a lot of white gold is alloyed with nickel). But if he wants a cheap ring, go silicon. But with an allergy, he can’t have it both ways in one ring (cheap and forever).

I agree about platinum. It isn’t cheap, but it will almost never cause allergies.

Platinum is a good call as pp had said. I am allergic to nickel (Found out via my nose piercing, not fun) and I wear a gold stud, and my white gold rings don’t bother me at all. As far as working with his hands/chemicals go, I would ditto what pps have said and go with a silicone ring. Darling Husband has a few and he loves them for work where his titanium ring could get scratched. He mostly wears his “good” wedding ring when he’s going out

I have a silicone ring from Enso that is supposed to look like copper. I normally just wear it to swim or hike, but I was really bloated earlier this week and I wore it out all weekend because it was more comfy on my bloated finger than my engagement ring. Three different times people noticed me fidgeting with it and reacted like, “Oh my gosh that ring bends?!” Because there is no way to tell it’s silicone by looking at it. So that may be a great option for him!

I also just want to bring up the possibility that maybe something is getting stuck under his rings and causing him to react? Like some sort of soap or something. Because it seems unlikely that he’d have identical reactions to two different metals, IMO. Try out tungsten carbide next, and from there it seems like platinum may be his only option  (other than silicone).

I’m allergic to all jewelry metals except gold, so that is what I’d suggest trying. But it will be soft and can get damaged easily, so he probably shouldn’t wear it working.
