Thank you for posting, Kittyachi.  You just reminded me that my husband told me to pay my credit card bill on Monday, and I still haven’t done it yet.  🙂  Doh!

I think it’s not unusual at all but I don’t think it’s girl power :(.  I think it’s just another hassle having to take care of a grown man.  Like you said, you aren’t his mommy and that’s not a dynamic you want in a relationship.  Also I think it’s good for any adult to be capable of paying bills.  Not to say there’s anything wrong in splitting household tasks like bills any way that works best for you.  I just hate the idea that an otherwise adult competent man “can’t” handle bills.

HAH! Kittyachi I know you’re not trying to be funny but I have to admit “he deserved it for being a irresponsible f**king moron. ” made me giggle a little cuz it totally sounds like something that’d come out of my mouth.

I was gonna suggest the same thing as HotChild. I have most of my big bills on an automatic payment like direct deposit from my bank account. I’m pretty sure you can attach his account even though it’s in your name. It’s like being billed as a 3rd party. My Mom used to pay my Nanny’s bills and I’m pretty sure you can set it up that way.

And yes Con Ed sucks the big one. Also, don’t be surprised when they add a nice hefty “re-activation” fee onto the bill next month.
