I bugged Fiance today to give me more ideas for Christmas, and this led to us discussing our respective bank account balances today… lets just say that until we get paid this Friday, the current balances are pretty dismal.
We agreed to go on a spending freeze until Friday- no lunches out, no picking up something small for Christmas… nothing until after Friday.
This has me so stressed b/c I still have so much shopping to do!
I told Fiance that for Christmas, I either want a Money Tree, or a goose that poops quarters. 🙂
Anybody with me?

If you find a money tree or quarter-laying goose please let me know! I totally feel your financial pain… weddings are so incredibly expensive!

fi and i have been on a spending freeze for months. it’s god-awful.

I agree! Or winning the lottery would be nice!

We’re doing the same…:( It sucks!

It really does suck! But it has to happen.
And don’t worry, if I find that pesky goose I’ll let you all know where to find him!

And yes, weddings *are* expensive. That’s where most of my extra money has gone. For example, the only money I spent this week (which was Christmas gift money from FI’s grandparents) was on 20 boxes of white christmas lights for the reception that I got on sale.
Yeah. My purchases are *so* exciting.

This is why we haven’t really done big gifts the past few years. I would prefer going out and doing things together than getting stuff anyway!

We’ve been on a spending freeze for months here too! And OH NO our TV broke this weekend!

@bonsai_spork: Check your local thrift store or salvation army. Ours have a ton of working TV’s, and they usually charge about a $1 per screen inch. So a 40″ TV is $40 🙂
Totally hear ya’ll about the spending freeze. We have really been on one for at least the last year because of me being unemployed. It stinks to infinity!

To try to ease the pain I’ve been buying things sporatically to ease the blow. One month I’ll buy envelopes, another I’ll buy my dress (running of the Brides discount!),
When I have some more moolah I’ll get a veil (I’ll try for vintage or used at a salvation army or something). Shop at cheap places and don’t buy all your stuff at once!
Don’t forget to borrow, borrow, borrow. See what your mom or best friend will loan you from her wedding.

My goose needs to lay golden eggs!

With our wedding less than three weeks away, we have been on a spending freeze for as long as I can remember, LOL. I can’t wait to buy stuff again! Haha! I will never take forgranted those little purchases again!

@bonsai_spork: That sucks!!! I don’t think I could survive not spending money on activities without tv lol. Too bad you don’t live closer…I have a tv I’m not using and trying to pawn off on someone. lol

We’re on a very strict budget from now until Christmas and a total spending freeze on wedding stuff until January. Boo-urns.
