Fiance birthday is nov 7 and our date is nov 9. its rather a big birthday (turning of a decade). i want to do something that he’s totally not expecting at the reception in honor of his birthday. he’s already having a grooms cake he knows about and we’re not having a rehearsal dinner to have a birthday cake for him. i want to do something really special that he’ll be completely happy and surprised about. all i can think of is having the guest sing to him…but that just seems so unoriginal. i thought of maybe making a “happy birthday FI” sign amongst the “mrs & mrs” and “just married” signs hanging around the place and seeing if he notices, but idk. any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm…what about a putting a present in his seat? Or is there some dessert he likes more than cake that you could surprise him with?

You could hand out a shot either of his favorite liquor or something like birthday cake and everyone sing and cheers to his birthday. I also read this idea that was neat…”At each place setting place a birthday candle. Tied to each birthday candle is a note/instructions. By having the candles at each place setting, your guests will get the info but your FH will have no idea. Then, just before the First Dance and as you guys are up on the dance floor, have the DJ make an announcement, everyone can light their candles (from a centerpiece candle”) and everyone will sing Happy Birthday to him. Then immediately go right into your First Dance. Give your photographer a heads up too so he/she doesn’t miss a thing!!!! Let us know what you decide and if you can, post some images! Your idea to celebrate his Birthday along with your RD/wedding is so cool!”
