Holy moly, sister! That was a tough paragraph to follow.

The only solution that I see is to tell him that your car is no longer available for his use and you aren’t his personal shuttle. Maybe then he will get off the couch and get it taken care of.

did he help pay for your car? or do you own it? I would exercise some tough love and tell him you have X amount of days to get a car, then you are cut off from using mine, seriously

I would so drop him off at a dealership and wish him luck on getting home.  Forcing him of course to buy the car. LOL

also…Capital One has really great rates and they can send you a “blank check” overnight.  Get on there get him approved or do the joint thing and get the check and send him on his way!

The only thing I can think of is maybe intentionally make it really inconvenient for him to not have his own car. Like tell him way in advance that you have plans next Saturday so you can’t take him to work overtime, then keep reminding him as Sat gets closer. And also tell him way in advance that you can’t drive him certain days to work, you need your car. But make sure to tell him in advance so you ‘reserve’ the right to your car. Ask him to find another way to get there, make it really hard for him to function without his own set of wheels. Then you don’t have to say anything about him finally getting a new car, he’ll just do it because he’ll be sick of the inconvenience.

@Mrs.Kennedy:  just go to the cap one aut loan site here:

http://www.capitalone.com/autoloans/before-you-apply.php?linkid=WWW_Z_Z_Z_AC1_H1_08_T_ALBR

get started on the application

here is some info about the process:

http://www.capitalone.com/autoloans/loans/used-auto-loans.php?linkid=WWW_Z_Z_Z_ALBYA_H1_03_T_ALUAL

You just make out the check to the dealer (you are of course approved up to a certain amount) and drive off.

I have used this process for years.  Just did it at the infiniti dealer and they told me its a very common practice and makes it very easy for the buying process.

Good luck!
