@anna_met:  Honestly? The kitten runs to me meowing, our adult cat opens one eye from her sleeping position to acknowledge me, and Fiance says “Hi meathead” and gives me a kiss. Super sweet, huh? Lol

I don’t know about super sweet. He doesn’t always come to the actual door (the cat does). But he does get off the couch to give me a kiss. lol

the dog runs to the door to say hi. DH stays where he is (if he’s working from home) and after I put down everything I’m carrying, I go and say hi and give him a kiss. This is also what happens when I am already home and he comes in.

There is no Donna Reed moment where anyone is met at the door with a martini and slippers

DH doesn’t move from the couch. He’ll look up and smile and potentially say hi but that’s about it.

It’s frustrating after a long day at work but I realized that when I used to get home before him I didn’t usually get up from the couch either.

ETA: I don’t consider him any less “loving” just because he doesn’t make a grand gesture when I walk in the door.

Yup,  the cats  come and greet me. Fiance  is usually  tinkering in the kitchen so I get a kiss or  ‘how was your day’

My cat always greats me at the door. Doesn’t matter what time it is lol and when Fiance comes home from work he always comes over and gives me a kiss and if he’s home and I come home from work he’s always the first one to make his move to walking overing. He’s silly like that. ๐Ÿ™‚

DH is often in the kitchen cooking dinner when I get home from work. He always breaks off for a hello kiss though. However, he works away a lot, so for the 5 weeks I get of this, I get 7 weeks of coming home to an empty house ๐Ÿ™

If I get home after my Fiance, he is usually in the kitchen making us dinner or working. I can’t really expect him to drop everything and meet me at the door because so often, his hands are full with whatever he is doing, so generally our after-work greetings are in the kitchen. Honestly, he’s SUCH a good cook that I wouldn’t want him to walk away from food prep, haha, and when he’s hard at work, I don’t mind that he doesn’t get up as long as we get time together later!

We have a pact that we stop whatever we’re doing to greet the person who just came home with a kiss. Plus I have two wagging dogs greet me every time I come home. It’s the best!

We never made a pact, but it’s just how we are. He also puts away my coat/winter gear while I take off my boots, and vice versa. This sounds like a codependent habit but it makes me feel loved!

My husband usually smiles really big and says, “Hey Frog!”……..nothing fancy. I don’t like being kissed, badgered, or touched as soon as I walk into the door. I usually have a squirmy toddler, a million bags, or a handful of mail that I need to look through. I hate feeling overwhelmed. After 10 mintues I am calm and ready to touch and kiss.

Well for us it’s the opposite since I get to stay at home and my husband works.  We usually greet each other with a big hug and kiss, but he also gets lots of love from our little mutt as well.
